The [[guest of honour]] at the festival in Kazan
was The French actress [[Catherine Deneuve]] and [[Kazakhstan]]'s ambassador to [[UNESCO]] [[Olzhas Suleimenov]], came up with the initiative to declare the coming year the year of cultures' closeness. This is exactly what was seen at the festival of Muslim films in Kazan, whose motto was "Through the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue". The chairman of the selection commission [[Sergei Lavrentyev]] is of the opinion that the films that were shown in Kazan offer proof that the potential is not fully untapped here.
It was exactly at the festival of Muslim films in Kazan that I once again made certain that all people are brothers. The film-goers had a chance to learn more about the cultures of countries, which submitted their films to the festival.
