Image ""
Hi, I see you have uploaded this Escher copyright image to Wikimedia Commons.

You have mistakenly claimed that it is CC-by-SA but unfortunately the Escher people retain all the Escher copyrights and the various museums around the world can display his prints but don't own any rights of reproduction. I guess we'll have to get the image deleted from Commons - it can't stay there - but you can upload it to Wikipedia as long as you select "Upload a non-free file", then "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use.", then "This image is the object of discussion in an article.", and you name the article, Day and Night (M. C. Escher), in the field provided, and then you have to explain in writing why the image can fairly be used despite being in copyright, i.e. the article is discussing it IN DETAIL - and you'd best make sure that that is true, by adding more discussion from scholarly sources. I hope this is clear - Wikipedia is red hot on copyright and it's essential to do things properly. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:48, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

:Thank you for letting me know of my error. How do do I go about getting it deleted? SuperMug (talk) 19:20, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
:: Just go to the image page on Commons (the logo "Wikimedia Commons" should be at the top left of the page, if not you're still on Wikipedia!) and choose "Nominate for deletion" from near the bottom of the left-hand-side menu. The reason is "image is in copyright". Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:12, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Information icon Hi SuperMug! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Alan Turing that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Your edit also changed the essential meaning of the sentence to something that the quoted reference doesn't cover: his state of mind at that time. — UncleBubba T @ C ) 19:44, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Carl Schou requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.  GILO   A&E  12:19, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, SuperMug. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Carl Schou, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

 • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
 • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the request edit template);
 • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
 • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
 • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:10, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SuperMug. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Secret Club, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SuperMug. The template Paid can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: . If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:11, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Anders Kühnau has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Ali Abdaal moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ali Abdaal, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
