Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.12 and an inclination of 3° with respect to the ecliptic.[1] Meyermann was first identified as 1929 TB1 at Lowell Observatory in 1929, extending the body's observation arc by 10 years prior to its official discovery observation at Heidelberg.[8]

His fields of interest included polar motion and relativistic effects.[2] The official naming citation was published by the Minor Planet Center on 18 April 1977 (M.P.C. 4155).[9]
