Gosling was seriously injured in August 2001 when he was working as a doorman at Silks nightclub, Mill Street, Cannock. He was slashed across the neck with a bottle causing a serious wound and needed a transfusion of four pints of blood. His attacker was recently given a life sentence for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He now works as a window cleaner and part time security at [[Asda]], Cannock. Richard has begun training local youngsters to become future strongmen.
