Khorasan has a clear meaning in modern Kurdish: ''Rasan'', as a [[verb]] in Kurdish means ''To Rise''. Hence '''Khor (Sun)'''+'''Rasan(Rising)''' means the place from which sun rises, i.e., the East. I would be glad if someone shows me the meaning of the second part in modern Persian(the first part is obvious from Khorshid).[[User:Heja helweda|Heja Helweda]] 03:48, 28 February 2006 (UTC) |

:The name is not Persian maybe. Parthians lived there before the sassanid era and as you know the Parthian language is a west Iranian language and a close relative of kurdish. Meaning of Khorasan
[edit]Khorasan has a clear meaning in modern Kurdish: Rasan, as a verb in Kurdish means To Rise. Hence Khor (Sun)+Rasan(Rising) means the place from which sun rises, i.e., the East. I would be glad if someone shows me the meaning of the second part in modern Persian(the first part is obvious from Khorshid).Heja Helweda 03:48, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- The name is not Persian maybe. Parthians lived there before the sassanid era and as you know the Parthian language is a west Iranian language and a close relative of kurdish. The translation you just gave is the exact meaning of that name. حضرت محمود (talk) 12:50, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
