::Actually when I was in Kentucky for the first time ever a few weeks ago and was introduced for the first time to this soda, I stopped at Walmart on the way out and picked up a case to take home for friends. I was suprised to see that Ale-8-One and it's diet counterpart, took up a full sixth of the shelf space for sodas. Far more space then any other soda. In fact no other soda was even close in terms of shelf space. I was quite shocked at this. Just a neutral osbservation. I live in SW Ohio and purchased myself an Ale-8 today, and the bottle states "Bottled under authority of Ale-8-One of America, Winchester, KY 50392 by Pepsi-Cola of Corbin, KY 40702." The article states that Ale-8 is distributed by Coca-Cola. Could anyone clarify? I can verify. It is distributed by Pepsi. I remember when they switched the glass bottles to the twist off caps and only the bottles sold by pepsi were twist offs (at that time, all are now) 157.89.71.230 (talk) |

I recently found this product in a grocery store display here in St. Louis. Not sure if this represents an expansion of distribution, but if anyone knows how to find out if distribution has expanded it would make a great addition to the article. Also I love the product. — Bill W. (Talk) (Contrib) (User:Wtwilson3) — 16:22, 31 December 2016 (UTC) |

Yea, I know "Ale-8" from when my parents lived in Eastern Kentucky. I recently noticed it's available in some grocery stores in Charlotte, North Carolina. Eric Cable ! Neutrality & Competition
[edit]How is this page not neutral? Youngamerican 12:49, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'm with Youngamerican on this one. I really don't see how this violates the NPOV requirement. Generally the POV check (in contrast to the neutrality dispute template), is used only by the author of the article. TheRingess, if you think the article is not neutral, I would encourage you to make some small changes that would fix it or at least offer an explanation for why the article is non-neutral. In the meantime, I have removed the POV check. Also, I removed reference to the beverage being "extremely" popular in central Kentucky and how it "easily competes" with Coke and Pepsi. A quick look at the store shelves in this area would indicate that that's something of an exaggeration. Ale-8 has a committed (some would say cult) following, but it certainly isn't a great threat to the big two soft drink companies. --Tom Allen 13:35, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
- Ale-8, being a ginger ale, competes with other ginger ales more readily than colas. It does enjoy more shelf space than Canada Dry in Lexington Kroger and Walmarts.
- Uh, nah guys you are wrong. I live in the heart of Ale-8's sphere of popularity and Ale-8 sales here surely compete well with colas. I'm drinking one now lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.147.10.188 (talk) 06:47, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

eccentric old man?
[edit]"eccentric old man" -- not for most of his life, he wasn't.
NuGrape
[edit]A bit of looking around on the web indicates that the statement about Ale-8 "coming out with a grape soda called NuGrape" is wrong. Not only is there no information about the drink on Ale-8's website, NuGrape itself is owned by the Big Red company. I deleted the reference. - Agentseven (talk) 17:00, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
