[edit]"In November 2006, an Agreement-in-Principle to Highlight Chinese Canadians' Contribution to Building Canada was announced. Former Prime Minister Paul Martin also gave a personal apology for this Act." When did this even happen actually? Last year? --User:Fitzwilliam 04:30, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Harper gave a speech apologizing for the Act yesterday, perhaps it was contained in the speech? Kilter 17:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]What were the reasons behind passage of this Act? Racism, of course, but what else?
Rename
[edit]This article needs to be renamed to exclude the word "The". Deet 02:04, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Now that someone hurriedly changed the names, the redirects also need to be changed. Also we still have Chinese Immigration Act of 1885.--JimWae 03:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Propose merging the article noted in the subtitle with this one, for these reasons:
- Skookum's comments in Talk:Anti-Chinese legislation in Canada are valid in my opinion.
- It's not like there is a lot of different types of legislation listed in the Anti article. It is limited to the immigration legislation, which is discussed in more detail (including the controversy) here.
Deet 14:46, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Alternate proposal: merge to History of Chinese immigration to Canada. --Usgnus 06:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me. So, how do we now go about doing that? Do we just cut and paste the info and then turn the old page into a redirect? Deet 23:48, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly, but personally, I would change the merge tags and wait a week first. --Usgnus 23:57, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Special Circumstances?
[edit]What are these? Could someone clarify and add to the article? 199.185.84.10 16:02, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
