:I am sorry I have to remove the source and the quoted content along with it. Postcard is a fake news site. It cannot be trusted for Wikipedia. Neither Times of India nor NEW indian Express are considered reliable source on Wikipedia due to the persistent problem of paid news and poor editorial standards of these newspapers. Indian Express is considered reliable, but not "New" Indian Express. Moreover the New Indian express talks about some incident in Mysore, and not in Melukote. Killing of 800 people is not a small incident. It is a big massacre. I am sure that you can easily find reliable sources discussing this incident if it is indeed true. Till then please do not add the disputed content. Walrus Ji (talk) 11:12, 19 December 2020 (UTC) |

:I recently donated an amount to Wikipedia. I regret the decision now. Wikipedia is as unreliable as Postcard. They do not acknowledge the massacre of Mandyam Iyengars by Tipu Sultan. This community stopped celebrating Diwali, a major festival, from the day of the massacre. This itself is proof enough for me. Wikipedia is now headed by a Muslim. So I know the agenda of Wikipedia. I request all Indians to stop donating to Wikipedia. 103.91.183.207 (talk) 08:41, 30 December 2023 (UTC) |

Why is a claim removed?
[edit]Everyone knows that on November 10, 1790, the day prior to Deepawali, Tipu Sultan Massacred around 1000 Mandayam Iyengars of this town. Since then to mourn for the killed innocent Brahmins,, the Iyengars do not celebrate Deepawali.
Why is this fact removed from the article? And the added nuisance of the caste system of India is not limited to this particular place, it was an omnipresent nuisance.

- (1). @Dineshjk: it was removed as it was an unsourced claim. You will need to provide reliable source to back up your claims. Saying "Everyone knows" is not enough to add content on Wikipedia. See WP:Verifiability.
- (2). That bit about caste is relevant to clarify to the reader why this place is the primely inhabited by the Mandyam Iyengar community. This information is sourced to the book that is freely available on Archive.org. You are free to read the book and check the authenticity of the claims. Walrus Ji (talk) 17:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
