John Copcot was (probably) a nephew of [[John_London_(priest)|John London]] and an uncle of [[Christopher_Hampton_(bishop)|Christopher Hampton]], although this relationship is not written up in any of the secondary sources. John's father Adam Copcott is known to have married Elizabeth London (sister of John London and grandmother of Christopher Hampton) but it is uncertain whether Elizabeth was his mother or he was the child of an unknown earlier marriage of Adam's; Adam and Elizabeth married in 1545.
