Anand is a forest officer in Ramgarh with his pregnant wife Laxmi raising his two adolescent sons; Suraj, Chandar & Asha, serviced by a loyal domestic help Dinu and his son Raju whom they have bought up with as their own. When Anand and an anguished JK spot bandits looting gold; they gun them down taking over the bounty. Anand tricks JK and hides the same arousing JK's wrath though not before he has tracked down his loyal servant Dinu too thus forcefully displacing Anand's family to Mumbai. A young Raju takes to the Robin Hood life to bring up his master's family he considers his own. He seldom encounters thugs whom he hoodwinks along with his accomplice Bantu. Raju and Jk's daughter Mini fall in love, while Suraj and Chandar are driven to corruption under Jk; a self styled big thug. Suraj as J.K.'s son Rakesh's friend wishes to forcefully marry Mini. Meanwhile Laxmi discovers Raju's short cut ways and abandons him though Raju's repentance brings his mother and sister back though later his sister gets victimised. How Raju and JK connect dramatically to their destinies mysteriously forms the climax of the film.

Laxmi and her daughter Asha leave Ravi and Chander and stay put with poor Raju.

Later Asha is doomed and tries to kill herself.

While devastated Mini discovers that JK is actually his distant caretaker uncle.

Yearning for lost gold and her property pushes Mini's uncle off limits as he crosses paths with her love interest Raju once again with latter finally discovering even his lost foster father; real of Suraj and Chander.
In the end good prevails over bad as Anand and Lakhsmi look on.

Babubhai latiwala partnered with late Praveen khanna after an event 'Govinda ala re' also featuring Johnny lever held at Shanmukhananda hall. The film also took shape because of a song that late Ravindra Jain had composed on the greatness of mothers.
Film songs were choreographed by Master Kamal and Vijay Oscar; while action was by Master Rashid khan.
During the waterfall song picturisation Govinda had his leg tied to a rope to avoid drowning or being swept away by the current in Athirapalli waterfall.

Plot
