this article is about a newsworthy event. all the information in it is already public. if you don't want your name here, first get the public mentions from the court records and the web pages from the fbi removed. the public has a right to know. you lost your privacy when you were busted for a crime. sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Beej (talk • contribs) |

^ I am a scene insider. I was on one of the mentioned sites and knew most of the CA/US guys who got busted.
Why is the name of the article not capitalized? (Incidentally, I also linked this to the Operations page.) Paul, in Saudi 2 July 2005 12:19 (UTC)

"privacy" issue
[edit]this article is about a newsworthy event. all the information in it is already public. if you don't want your name here, first get the public mentions from the court records and the web pages from the fbi removed. the public has a right to know. you lost your privacy when you were busted for a crime. sorry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Beej (talk • contribs)
- Partially true, but mot completely relevant to Wikipedia. Our policy on biographies of living people makes no exception for information that has been published elsewhere. Because Wikipedia is a high-traffic site, information posted here gets tremendous exposure, both directly and via mirror sites and search engines. The people mentioned in this article are not, by and large, public figures; Rather, they are notable for this single notable event, their involvement in an FBI sting operation. None of these comments should be taken as an endorsement of User:Phil Sandifer's approach to deletion of users' edits, which has profound implications for GFDL compliance and shows a general lack of respect for community consensus and the good-faith efforts of other Wikipedians. --Ssbohio 02:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
TYPE-O
