How do we know the article at http://www.post-gazette.com/localnews/20030128ellerberp1.asp involved a Glock pistol? Chances are it did, but it is also could have a been another type of pistol without a safety, or another pistol-type, and the safety was not engaged. -[[User:Bobbfwed]] |

Oh, you're right. Should it be removed? EDIT: I changed the context in which the article is used to be more accurate and factual. 68.193.94.214 03:18, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I think, if we don't know for sure if it involves a safe action pistol (GLOCK) then it may need to be removed (for relevance reasons or just for proof of reference). If we can get the original person who added the link to give some more info so we could confirm or deny the use of a Glock pistol. -User:Bobbfwed 19:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I was that original person. I just found that article and linked to it, forgetting it might not be a GLOCK. 68.193.94.214 21:53, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit]This article correctly states that Glock pistols have no external safeties, and may be "susceptible to unintended trigger manipulation." I thought I'd point out that Glock owners I know do use an external safety, which is a small plastic piece that is inserted into the trigger guard, behind the trigger, from the left side (for a right-handed shooter). It helps prevent the trigger from being pulled accidentally, such as when drawing the pistol from a holster, but can be easily popped out by the trigger finger. The reason I bring this up on the Talk page is that its effectiveness is somewhat controversial, and I am by no means an expert on this. Oanjao 17:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Merged
[edit]I merged this article into Glock#Safety because this material was only about Glock guns, and because it was largely redundant with an already detailed section there. Felsic2 (talk) 22:42, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
