I really think that the part "How stride gum was heard" should be re-named. The current name just sounds really weird/akward. I would do it myself, but I can't think of the correct way to word it. [[User:69.121.67.198|69.121.67.198]] 10:54, 1 July 2006 (UTC) |

Is "Good for you, bad for us" used anywhere else besides the one commercial? If not, it's not a slogan. I'd say the slogan is "The rediculously long lasting gum", as it's repeated many times on the web site. Also, I'm removing the wikicomment that says <nowiki><!--All these facts are confirmed and true. Do not delete!. --></nowiki> from the article because the comment doesn't guarantee the validity of the information, sources do. (Especially after people edit it). If something is changed to something that is false, change it back and put your reasoning on the talk page. --[[User:ScarletSpiderDave|ScarletSpiderDave]] 05:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC) |

I personally work for Cadbury Adams the company that produces Stride gum. None of our chewing gum wrappers are designed to be ingested. We hope you will toss the wrapper in a waste basket and enjoy the great flavor of our gum! That is about as credible as it gets! |

I'm not sure how it started, but somehow a lot of people think that its important to add the fact that you can or cannot eat the wrapper of Stride gum. What sets Stride apart from other gums of similar packaging to make it notable to include this fact/rumor? Kudos to user [[User:65.160.155.100|65.160.155.100]] for trying to shed some light on the non-editable status of the wrapper, but I believe what you did was original research which is not allowed by Wikipedia (see [[WP:NOR]] for more information). ''If I have misused this policy, please discuss it here and let me know. As of now the edit has been reverted.'' As of right now, I believe that it not a notable enough to include in the article. IMHO it is just a internet rumor which has gained a small amount of publicity via Wikipedia among other online sources. I realize that I have no final say on the status of this article, but I ask you discuss the matter first here before adding it to the article again. ==Artificial Sweetener== |
|||
There should be some mention of the amount of artificial sweetener in the gum. The front package lists Sorbitol, Mannitol, Xylitol, Aspartame, Acesulfame-Potassium, and Sucralose. It seems they have every sweetener known to man in there. The worst part is that Sorbitol is first on the ingredients list which indicates there's more of it than anything else. This gum is a sorbitol delivery system. Some kind of reference to artificial sweetener controversy should be included. Of course they're all FDA approved, but sorbitol does cause stomach problems at reasonable doses. A daily pack of Stride would very likely have you visiting the doctor. |

I chew like two packs of this per day, never gives me any problems :P. But, that's not to say it wouldn't for other people. And on the topic of a FDA controversy section, that should be a whole other article, and have stride gum listed on it. Every gum (mostly) nowadays has all those artificial sweeteners in them, it would be easier to merge that issue into one article. I agree, but I want to hear this from the developer of the gum. Then again, we are the guinea pigs here, we don't know if those sweeteners will give us cancer in a few years. [[User:NitrogenTSRH|NitrogenTSRH]] ([[User talk:NitrogenTSRH|talk]]) 17:36, 31 July 2008 (UTC) |

This article is missing a few different sub-types of Stride Gum, including iD gum. It would appear to be different in that the gum has swirled colors '''(related to its combination of two flavors?)''', original package art, and a magnet to hold the package closed. This is a greatly needed section in this article. |

== Is Stride gum really discontinued in the USA and Canada? == |

Title says it all. I've red on multiples websites that Stride gum was discontinued by Mondelez in the USA and Canada since 2019, a little before the COVID-19 pandemic. Should we mention this in the article? Though I'm not sure if the websites I've checked (I dont remember them) are reliable. - Even if you aren't supposed to chew the wrapper, it still makes the flavor last longer. --68.104.202.165 (talk) 20:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Please do no add this information back unless you cite a reliable source. I've had to remove it once again. Please see WP:NOR for further information. Thanks, HumanZoom 02:55, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure how it started, but somehow a lot of people think that its important to add the fact that you can or cannot eat the wrapper of Stride gum. What sets Stride apart from other gums of similar packaging to make it notable to include this fact/rumor? Kudos to user 65.160.155.100 for trying to shed some light on the non-editable status of the wrapper, but I believe what you did was original research which is not allowed by Wikipedia (see WP:NOR for more information). If I have misused this policy, please discuss it here and let me know. As of now the edit has been reverted. As of right now, I believe that it not a notable enough to include in the article. IMHO it is just a internet rumor which has gained a small amount of publicity via Wikipedia among other online sources. I realize that I have no final say on the status of this article, but I ask you discuss the matter first here before adding it to the article again. Thanks, HumanZoom 10:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Are there any citations or sources about this whole edible wrapper thing? 70.105.154.34 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
"Innovative Ideas"
[edit]This is clearly an advertisment for Stride. No gum lasts that long. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.118.60.156 (talk) 06:07, 14 April 2007 (UTC).
- Yes. This is how Stride markets its gum. But it is important to include this information in this article and the I believe the following sentence (while not followed by a source) gives a proper foil to the claim. There are various other claims on product pages throughout Wikipedia that the makers of those products claim to be true. I think if anything, innovative ideas should be changed to something else (perhaps: marketing ideas or marketing strategies), but the claim still needs to be present as it is a important marketing point of Stride gum (what sets it apart from other gums according to Stride). HumanZoom 06:23, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Either way the article should at least mention that the gum's main selling point is its long-lasting flavor, which has long been the holy grail of chewing gum (there are SONGS about gum flavor being lost).
The most innovative idea I've seen from Stride is the way their packs are designed. 70.105.154.34 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Picture Quality?
[edit]This article's pic is absolutely horrible, i'm actually chewing a piece of stride gum now and i've been keeping the stride gum case in my back pocket all day and have sat on it all day, and it still looks waaaaayyy better than that disgraceful picture glamorized on the article!!!
seriously! someone should freaking change it immidiately.

- I agree it was a bad picture, but it was all I had at the time. Previously no one else had taken the time to take a picture of Stride. Do you have a camera? It would great if you could upload a better picture. Thanks, HumanZoom 15:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I'll try and post up a nice pic when I get a new pack (my current one is pretty abused).
I'm too lazy to take one right now. PS. the entire Article is a complete Joke! Masterhand10(Talk)(Contributions) 19:37, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm back and i took a pic and placed it on the article. Hope you like it.

oops. I'm new to talking on wikipedia... nevermind... Anyways. I've also taken several pictures. How could I upload them? Enigma 0Z 01:34, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Artificial Sweetener
[edit]There should be some mention of the amount of artificial sweetener in the gum.
- You got any sources? Tomalak Geret'kal (talk) 04:44, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
NitrogenTSRH (talk) 00:33, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- Again, sources? At the moment this is all original research, as far as I can tell. Tomalak Geret'kal (talk) 19:36, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree, but I want to hear this from the developer of the gum. Then again, we are the guinea pigs here, we don't know if those sweeteners will give us cancer in a few years. NitrogenTSRH (talk) 17:36, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Where the Hell is Matt?
[edit]There is no mention of the internet campaign of the stride gum in association with Where the hell is matt?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.138.72.184 (talk) 15:19, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Edible Wrapper Removed
[edit]I just navigated over here to remove that, that fact has no place in an encyclopedia and should have been removed long ago. We don't know what is in the cheap paper they use to package the gum; The package would tell you if the paper was meant to be consumed. NitrogenTSRH (talk) 00:30, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
stride gum

Stride iD
[edit]This article is missing a few different sub-types of Stride Gum, including iD gum. It would appear to be different in that the gum has swirled colors (related to its combination of two flavors?), original package art, and a magnet to hold the package closed. This is a greatly needed section in this article. 2602:306:307B:2800:BC35:3D82:5CFD:BBD7 (talk) 02:13, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Is Stride gum really discontinued in the USA and Canada?
[edit]Title says it all. I've red on multiples websites that Stride gum was discontinued by Mondelez in the USA and Canada since 2019, a little before the COVID-19 pandemic. Should we mention this in the article? Though I'm not sure if the websites I've checked (I dont remember them) are reliable. Easeface (talk) 23:30, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
