Hi all. I've just done a fair bit of editing on this profile, just to clean up some poor grammar, and to rearrange the structure of some of the sentences. After reading the original, it seemed that the text was often bouncing from one subject to the next, rather than concentrating on one theme per paragraph. I certainly think it reads a lot better now. Hopefully all will agree that there's a better flow to the words, and a better order to the timeline of the character's life now. If you don't think so, please let me know. Cheers. --User:Compost 12:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Proposed move from Lance-Corporal -> Lance Corporal
I'm proposing am minor move of this page from Lance-Corporal Jones to Lance Corporal Jones (i.e. removing the hyphen).
(The Lance corporal doesn't have a hyphen in it. This alone probably doesn't justify a move, but the episode The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones doesn't hypenate it. Neither does the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0077s8b. While the Dads Army Apperciation Society is a fansite, I think it's reasonable to use it as a source, that doesn't use a hyphen http://www.dadsarmy.co.uk/maincharacters.html

Reference to "probable service in the Third Anglo-Afghan War"
This reference has been removed as veterans of this 1919 campaign would wear the India General Service Medal after WW1 medals. Jones wears the ribbon before his WW1 medals, confirming India service before 1918, and the 1908 Frontier campaign is the only pre-war campaign in which British Army regiments took part and received this medal. Also, Jones never mentions service in 1919 in the TV series or films.

Proposed move from Lance-Corporal -> Lance Corporal

[edit]

I'm proposing am minor move of this page from Lance-Corporal Jones to Lance Corporal Jones (i.e. removing the hyphen). (The Lance corporal doesn't have a hyphen in it. This alone probably doesn't justify a move, but the episode The Armoured Might of Lance Corporal Jones doesn't hypenate it. Neither does the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0077s8b. Reference to "probable service in the Third Anglo-Afghan War"

[edit]

This reference has been removed as veterans of this 1919 campaign would wear the India General Service Medal after WW1 medals. Jones wears the ribbon before his WW1 medals, confirming India service before 1918, and the 1908 Frontier campaign is the only pre-war campaign in which British Army regiments took part and received this medal. Also, Jones never mentions service in 1919 in the TV series or films. Hsq7278 Talk 22:13, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
