starring roles/guest appearances
[edit]The differentiation between "short films (starring roles)" and "short films (guest appearances)" is becoming very confusing. Some films are listed in both categories. Some "guest appearance" films star Stan Laurel, while only Oliver Hardy has the short appearance. Some of these "Guest appearance" films actually star both, but they are not yet quite the "Laurel and Hardy" that we recognize. I suggest re-thinking the headings. Possibly making the earlier films in which they both appear, more-or-less un-teamed, as one section, ("Pre-teamed roles"), and the true Laurel and Hardy films in the main section. "Guest appearances" should be only for films in which they make brief appearances together (e.g., Call of the Cuckoos and The Stolen Jools. Anyone agree? Or object? - You are right about the short films (guest appearances). I've taken Sailors, Beware! out already, and i suspect Slipping Wives, Love 'em and Weep, A Lucky Dog and Why Girls Love Sailors shouldn't be there either. But not having seem them myself i've left them. I've already split the shorts up into silent shorts and talking shorts which is obvious enough. I also think it would be a good idea to split the silent shorts up into 'teamed' and 'unteamed' as you suggest, but i'm not sure those words sound right. Also putting the films into the right list would be difficult. Szzuk 22:34, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Is it worth noting which of these films are lost? --MartinUK 21:38, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- I would say yes. EchetusXe (talk) 13:30, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Utopia
[edit]I have Utopia on DVD. It is 83 minutes long, made in 1950, black and white. Does not seem to be mentioned in the lists - perhaps it is the french film renamed.
- Update: it appears to be Atoll K renamed. It would help to mention the Utopia name in the list.
This film was also released as Robinson Crusoeland in the UK.
you guys forgot March of the Wooden Soldiers 1934 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.74.142.131 (talk) 18:10, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
103, 105, 106, 109 or an other amount?
[edit]So... After seeing a revert at nl.wikipedia regarding the number of Laurel and Hardy films I decided to count them. Laurel and Hardy on nl.wp states there are 106, just like this article. The list of films of Laurel and Hardy on nl.wp states there are 105, but counting them there are only 103 listed films there. If I count all films on this article, I count 109... How many Laurel and Hardy films are there? Sumurai8 (talk) 18:03, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- It appears that there are 106 films ([1])... Good luck finding the 3 double listed films. Sumurai8 (talk) 18:10, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
This is a mess
[edit]"Les carottiers (French version of Les carottiers)" - it's a French version of itself?
"Hinter Schloss und Riegel (German version of Beau Hunks; Lost film)" - it was the German version of "Pardon Us" (a feature)
"Pardon Us" - why aren't the foreign phonetic versions of this mentioned (there were 4 of them)? They are mentioned (occasionally) for the shorts.
Where is "Une Nuit Extravagante"? "Les Bons Petits Diables"? "Gluckliche Kindheit"? "Radiomania"? "Pele-Mele"? "Spuk Um Mitternacht"?
"The Hoose-Gow" is a three-reeler? News to me...
There's probably more... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.222.184.114 (talk) 11:15, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Agreed, I think this list should also include the 20 foreign language versions of the early talkies? They have the same storyline but other than that they are entirely different films, many times with different actors. Of the 20 films I would like to know which are lost and which are known to exist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.184.68.39 (talk) 22:20, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
The Rogue Song-- change from 'lost' to 'mostly lost'?
[edit]Hello Fellow L&H Friends, I wondered, since a few clips of The Rogue Song have survived/surfaced, if the listing as 'lost' should be changed to 'mostly lost'. I'm not going to change it myself, as I thought I'd leave the decision to proper L&H scholars. I think the 'lost' listings could be further defined by 'lost' (entirely lost), 'mostly lost', 'partially lost', 'mostly complete'. Thanks. SaturnCat (talk) 06:17, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

between
[edit]"Between 1921 and 1951" by definition excludes the years 1921 and 1951. "From 1921 to 1951" would work, since "between 1920 and 1952," while accurate, would likely confuse the person who made the original error.--~TPW 13:14, 7 August 2017 (UTC)
suggestion
[edit]This is just my personal opinion, but I would separate this list. The primary change would be to have a main list of "official" L&H films, then another list where they made cameo appearances, and their earlier films before they were a team. Also, I would put feature films into a separate list. JMO Elsquared (talk) 21:27, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
