Why no mention of White City? What about Reservoir Hill? Nothing wrong with using the term "upscale". You know full well that the areas described as such truly are upscale. Have to agree that not a single one of the businesses listed below is noteworthy. "SoBo" isn't even a Tulsa neighborhood. That's just a name thought up by a couple of restaurateurs in the area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.13.228.127 (talk) 11:27, 19 November 2011 (UTC) |

I think sufficient effort has gone into removing egregious advertisements to warrant removing the banner, which I have just done. However, The content generally should put the article into a "C" category. I still believe the article should have a map showing where these neighborhoods are located in order to be really useful. Otherwise, it would be almost useless to the casual reader. Bruin2 (talk) 16:31, 1 January 2012 (UTC) |

Article creation
[edit]This article was created as a result of a discussion on the talk page of Tulsa, Oklahoma.--NMajdan•talk 17:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.13.228.127 (talk) 11:27, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
NPOV: article reads like an advertisement
[edit]While not exactly an advertisement, this article is hardly NPOV. It's full of words like "upscale", "best", "acclaimed" etc. without ever mentioning any kind of source, or even just further explanation of what makes it good. This is a classic case of WP:PEA.
Getting back to "sounds like an ad", tons of businesses are mention and/or linked, which seems very spammy to me. If these businesses are actually noteworthy, prove it with a reliable source. Take, for example, the following sentence:
- "Doubleshot Coffeehouse, Mercury Lounge, Rehab Lounge, Dalessandro's Restaurant, Pour House, Oscar's Gastro Pub and Vintage 1740 Wine Bar are popular destinations in SoBo."
Sorry, but that's unacceptable. I'm considering deleting the sentence, but then again, some of these may actually be notable - but how can I, or any reader, tell? Please source what's actually notable, and delete what's not. For that matter, I personally consider any link to a business an ad.
Unfortunately this isn't the only article with these problems, in fact, a lot of neighborhood descriptions are plagued by the similar problems of "local business plugging".
Remember, Wikipedia is not the yellow pages, nor a travel guide. 87.78.3.205 (talk) 17:44, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
You should delete that sentence. In fact, the "districts" called "So Bo" and "Uptown" need to be deleted entirely. I have lived in Tulsa for 42 years, and there has never been an "uptown" here. Google "uptown Tulsa", and you'll find only this article, and one other page that seems to have copied from it. As for "So Bo", this is a very new attempt by one of the bars in that area to make the area sound more hip, like Deep Ellum in Dallas. In fact, not all of the bars/restaurants mentioned in your example sentence are even still in business. Roadhunter (talk) 12:57, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Request for Neighborhood Definitions
[edit]I think this article would be far more useful if the boundaries of "districts" or neighborhoods were better defined and illustrated on a map of the city. Some of these names have sprung up in the last half-century and are not well-known except to current residents. Bruin2 (talk) 18:11, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Definition of Downtown vs. North Tulsa
[edit]At least until the 1950s, the term downtown usually referred to the business district south of the Frisco railroad tracks (between First and Archer Streets). By this terminology, the Brady districts and Greenwood belong to North Tulsa - consistent with the existing Wiki article on North Tulsa. Unless there has been a more recent formal demarcation between Downtown and North Tulsa, I believe we should stick with the older boundary as historically correct. Article Reclassification
[edit]I think sufficient effort has gone into removing egregious advertisements to warrant removing the banner, which I have just done. However, The content generally should put the article into a "C" category. I still believe the article should have a map showing where these neighborhoods are located in order to be really useful. Otherwise, it would be almost useless to the casual reader. Bruin2 (talk) 16:31, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
