Requested move 7 February 2018

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: speedily and neutrally moved, as the disambiguation page was malplaced. However, future discussion should be had. Original "Poppy" --> "Poppy (flower)" page mover, possibly discuss the move before making it. Paintspot Infez (talk) 19:11, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Poppy (disambiguation)Poppy – Per WP:MALPLACED. If this fails, then either Poppy (flower) (the "status quo") or Poppy (singer) should be moved to the base title as a primary topic. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:02, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, the flower and the singer seem to be co-primaries. The singer has many more page views per day, week, and month. The flower because it's a known and popular flower, and has plenty of page views of its own. They seem to be good pages for a disamb. as each has an arguable claim to primary. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:10, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Move discussion in progress

Primary topic

[edit]

The flower is the main meaning. That's why its article has no disambiguation. The singer is nowhere close. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:05, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Per page views for the last 90 days the reader is seeking both equally. The singer isn't the primary, but the equality of views gives page-view balance for the page. Randy Kryn (talk) 06:03, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That's not in any guideline that I'm aware of. Per MOS:DABPRIMARY, "it should not be mixed in with the other links." Clarityfiend (talk) 22:24, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The flower is the main meaning. The last 90 day page views is irrelevant, please see WP:recentism. Paul August 23:28, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
At least, since she goes by one name and is equal to the primary in page views, let's list the page as a single name and third in the alphabetical listing. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:42, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
