Got rid of the 'motifs' section - arbitrary, no citations, not particularly encyclopedic in presentation. Saw no discernible reason for including it. 98.101.136.218 (talk) 01:57, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

A bit too much about the train journey here perhaps? It reads like an obsessive train scheduling nut took over the article, thereby changing its focus to one, rather minor, part of the novel's story. Alinnyc (talk) 15:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Any citations for the parts that may be difficult for children? That word "may" is setting off alarm bells for me; without some citations showing that these issues are considered problematic by educators, it sounds like unencyclopedic speculation. — Gwalla | Talk 03:24, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

*The section titled "Influences" states that "Mentions of elephants were most likely derived from Kipling's experiences in India where he was born."
