History?
[edit]I was hoping to find some history of this idea here. Who did this first? The Seversky SEV-3? DonPMitchell (talk) 17:46, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
decreased wing root bending moment
[edit]'.. wing root bending moment caused by the lift generated by the wings in flight is decreased.'
Does anyone know why this is the case?
I understand that the wing root bending moment that is generated by the weight of the wing and thus its inertia is reduced through reducing the weight of the wing.

- I think is is because in general on a wet wing the fuel can be located closer to the wing root than with tanks, but I agree that it isn't clear in the article. - Ahunt (talk) 13:38, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Diagram
[edit]Hi, I think this article need a picture/diagram. I think the picture below would be a great choice, since it clearly shows the fuel carrying parts of the wing (not always easy to visualise). Not everyone agrees and my edits have been reverted. 3rd opinions welcome... --MBiR (talk) 10:14, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- While the diagram may show a wet wing fuel cell arrangement it isn't specific and doesn't add a lot to the reader's understanding of the subject. Don't we have a better image somewhere? - Ahunt (talk) 16:38, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
