The reason Darnand was taken back to France and executed by the French rather than being tried at Nuremberg is obvious: he was French and commited his crimes on French soil. This article mentions that Darnand "...founded his own transportation company in Nice." Paxton ''(Ibid)'' refers to "...Joeph Darnand, the Nice garage owner..." This may be a ''Rashomon''-like example of two sources seeing the same thing differently, but it might be worth clarifying in case Darnand's business was really just a gas/petrol station. The references to this article do not give any citation as to the statement that Laval was the President of Milice. I doubt that Laval was the President of Milice, and if no one can provide evidence to Laval being President I plan to edit that out of Darnand's biography.

- No, Laval was President of l'Etat Français, better known as Vichy France. The Milice was organized in December 1943 by Secretary-general for the Maintenance of Order Darnand out of the Service d'Ordre Légionnaire and its operational head was René Bosquet.
