This still doesn't seem resolved, in particular neither ancestry.com nor imdb are reliable sources here. However given the conversation above and these sources I'm going to change it to 1971/12/14: |

Third child
[edit]Is she still pregnant? If so, when is the baby due to be born? Werdnawerdna (talk) 22:10, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- Born October 2008. Jim Michael (talk) 07:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
I've seen several articles which compare her to a younger Meryl Streep, both in her physical appearance and acting style. Has she ever responded to this in interviews? 76.243.178.115 (talk) 02:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Surname
[edit]Her birth name was Tailor, her mother remarried to a man named Greenslade, and she herself married a man named Kelly. Where did the surname "McElhone" come from? JamesMLane t c 22:13, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- Mother's maiden name. Jim Michael (talk) 07:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]Her parents are both Irish and she was born in England. For fairness' sake, she should be listed as British; if she's listed as English, it's a blatant disregard for her birth identity. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 18:49, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I recently restored a reference to an interview with the Irish Times where she identifies as Irish
“Well, I am Irish,” she says. She was born Natascha Taylor in London to Irish parents. Her parents split up when she was a toddler and her mother, journalist Noreen Taylor, married Roy Greenslade, a former newspaper editor and now a professor in journalism and media columnist for the Guardian. McElhone is her mother’s maiden name.
- but that doesn't make her any less a British citizen. I'd like to have more sources before making any changes, and also get some opinions from WP:IMOS on the most appropriate way to present this information. -- 37.110.218.43 (talk) 16:51, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Date of Birth
[edit]She's on "My life in Books" on BBC2 at the moment and Anne Robinson has just said that she was born in 71. How reliable is the reference for 69? Will Bradshaw (talk) 18:42, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- I've looked at the cited source (http://www.ancestry.com), and I'm not sure if it is reliable a reliable source. It looks like the site allows anyone to submit content. Klilidiplomus+Talk 19:02, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

- People keep changing the DOB. Of the four references currently given, one simply isn't a reference and one is a bit dead, the remaining two are relatively inaccessible, I don't know what the book says but going by my previous comment, the TV program said '71 so I'm going to revert it back to 23/3/71. Could someone try to find some more reliable references? Will Bradshaw (talk) 20:48, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- Right, I’ve been having a look at this, myself: having noticed Ms McElhone’s listed on the Wikipedia article for 14th December. The reference from her book lists the 1971 date. Her IMDb entry gives 23rd March, 1969! What’s going on? Cuddy2977 (talk) 15:00, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
- IMDB currently gives 14th December 69. I've just looked at the book reference, the book is readable, I don't think it was before. It clearly states for Wednesday 17th December "It was my birthday on Sunday", ie the 14th, I can't find the year though. The "about the author" section, the reference given, isn't available, what do you mean by "the 1971 date"? It doesn't give the article's current date of 23rd March 71, does it?. Even if it does, 14th December was given by McElhone herself, rather than the publisher, so I'd say based on that and My Life in Books, we should go with 14th December 1971 I'll change both articles accordingly. Will Bradshaw (talk) 12:23, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

This still doesn't seem resolved, in particular neither ancestry.com nor imdb are reliable sources here. However given the conversation above and these sources I'm going to change it to 1971/12/14:

Full frontal
[edit]I find the mention of the "Full frontal" scene irrelevant to the page and was really surprised by the associated link showing a full frontal. I'm not offended by it but found it unnecessarily crude.
Maybe in the industry it's really important to have done a full frontal in front of Robert deniro? I don't know. But from a casual fan looking for a bit more information on this actress, it seems really out of place.
Then to the link, i didn't even see the link to Full frontal initially. I was dragging my mouse to go somewhere else when suddenly there was a photo of a naked woman. I am perplexed as to what it is supposed to add to the information about this actress. If "Full Frontal" is believed to be necessary and obscure enough that it needs a reference and a pop-up photo for clarification, why not just say something like "She had one scene with RobertD ... that required her to be shown from the front, fully naked" Then you wouldn't need the link or the photo.
The opinion of one. B — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2d80:c010:8ca2:a525:1b9a:c09f:cddf (talk) 15:44, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
- Please sign and date your posts using ~~~~. Note Wikipedia is not censored.
- This looks like yet another case of using a wikilink to cover up bad writing, simply writing "full frontal nude scene" would make the text unambiguously clear. There is no need for a link.
- It is possible that this scene is notable but the article has failed to show that it is. The provided archived reference is incomplete, the reference is an archived copy of a Yahoo biography page, which includes the text "became a star overnight with her portrayal of Francoise Gilot … More" but clicking on the text "More" fails to expand the text. What little is there only suggests her performance was notable, not that her nudity was notable. A better source is needed. You could remove the text based on the failure to adequately show notability. -- 109.79.181.157 (talk) 18:15, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
