Requested move 13 November 2018: Prefer Lincoln High School, New Zealand. Obviously, yes, change parenthetical place disambiguation to comma, as is the dominant Wikipedia and real world style, but far from convinced to change to Selwyn. Choosing Selwyn seems pretty random, it is not much used, wasn't used in the article, is internationally ambiguous, and even nationally it is not unambiguous (village, electorate or district?).

:Lincoln High School (New Zealand) → Lincoln High School, Selwyn – According to our naming conventions, we use a comma rather than ellipses for disambiguation, and we use the city or town that the school is located in rather than "New Zealand". The school is located in Lincoln, New Zealand and it doesn't seem quite right to use "Lincoln" as a dab as there are dozens of American schools of this name that commemorate the American president Abraham Lincoln. There are a number of options here and I tend to favour the use of the district name as that is closest (as it were) to our convention of using the town's name: "Selwyn". *Support Per WP:COMMADIS but wouldn't just Lincoln High School, New Zealand do? Indeed if it had a different name, it would presumably be disambiguated with "Lincoln" but that's not possible due to being tautological and there being multiple high schools with this name in other Lincolns. However I'm not that familiar with NZ's NC so I'll take whatever others think is best. An example is Newark Castle, Nottinghamshire, WP:UKPLACE specifies that places usually go under "Place, County" if ambiguous, but those located within a larger settlement get "Place, Larger settlement" but for the same reason Lincoln, England using the country, not county if the feature and settlement have variations of the same name, then we fall back on "Place, County", which would appear to be the case here (since NZ uses "Place, Country" by default to disambiguate). *Oppose. Comma disambiguation is for place names only. A school is not a place. This is just flat-out inconsistent with the guidelines. Schwede66 is correct. --Bsherr (talk) 00:28, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
**To emphasize this, I refer to the disambiguation page Lincoln High School at which every other entry uses parenthetical disambiguation as opposed to comma disambiguation. This would be the one outlier? --Bsherr (talk) 00:31, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
***That's because all the others are in America, where parenthetical disambiguation is the norm. However, for Commonwealth countries (except Canada), comma disambiguation is the norm, for buildings as well as places. See :Category:Schools in Wellington City for examples, and also the result of Talk:Wellington High School, New Zealand#Requested move 13 November 2018, which is an identical case to this one, as well as the already cited WP:NCNZ. The vast majority of non-Canadian Commonwealth buildings use comma disambiguation and those that don't already should. -- Necrothesp (talk) 09:07, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
****I’ve perused the Bs of the Commonwealth alphabet to check this. The Bahamas and Barbados use parentheses, Bangladesh uses comma, Belize uses a mix. Correct me if I am wrong, but this still contravenes the guideline, does it not? It seems like a right mess. Bsherr (talk) 11:02, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Lincoln logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Lincoln logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lincoln High School (New Zealand)Lincoln High School, Selwyn – According to our naming conventions, we use a comma rather than ellipses for disambiguation, and we use the city or town that the school is located in rather than "New Zealand".
