I've expanded a bit, putting in the discography.
Further work: I don't know where to find highest-chart achievement information for the singles and album. If you do, please add it in.
I know I should have a reference for the album's chart performance, but I can't find one. So if you know one... pomegranate 16:12, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)

Do we still call #1 singles "hits"? I thought the singles market was waning significantly, so to be a number 1 single wasn't all that difficult to orchestrate.

Maybe the use of the word 'singer' is dubious too. I've never actually seen her sing - only mime. Presumably it is her voice?. I remember that she once swapped voice-boxes with Jo O'Meara for a time; Jo's powerful voice still being audible whilst Jo herself was absent from the stage with back trouble.

She hasn't won any of these awards!

203.215.103.7's edits on 30 October, whilst I am sure was done with good intentions and does contain some new information, is horrendous and makes the article unreadable. There are many spelling & grammar mistakes and appears to have been badly translated from another language. Some selected extracts:

Shouldn't a more tasteful picture be used to depict this lovely woman? She is a respectable and tasteful performer, and should be revered by the Wikipedia community and its users. An image file titled "Rachel Stevens holding right boobie.jpg" acts as a degrading dismissal of an otherwise amazing person. I know from personal experience that if you start to give people an inch, they'll take a mile. This one time when I was at the park with some friends, chillin out maxin relaxin out cool. Shootin some b ball outside of the school when a couple of guys that were up to no good. Startin makin trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight, and my mom got scared. == British Vs. English ==

I have no problem with Stevens being listed as British instead of English, however, the categories like "English singers", etc should stay. Removing them without replacing them with an equivalent is tantamount to vandalism. I checked several other articles that pretty much jive with the categories that were originally placed here years ago and no one else had a problem with until a few days ago. Amy Winehouse was born in Southgate, London (same as Stevens) and she is listed as an "English singer". Same goes for Natasha Bedingfield (born in London), Kim Wilde (Chiswick, West London), etc, etc. Since there doesn't appear to be any "British singers" categories, English is gonna have to suffice unless someone wants to create a whole slew of new categories because they don't agree with the wording and don't agree with the assessment that if one is born in London or a suburb of London, one is not English. Unless a valid argument is presented as to why these categories are (no pun) categorically wrong, the categories should stay. If they're removed, I'll be glad to open an RfC to get some more eyes on what seems to be a big deal on this article only. Pinkadelica (talk) 04:10, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Longtime boyfriend
Something doesn't add up in the Personal life section of the article. The first sentence says that she became engaged to "longtime boyfriend" Jeremy Edwards on February 14, 2002. The second sentence says that they split up in early 2004 after "over three years" of dating. That would mean that they started dating in late 2000 or early 2001. This in turn means that Edwards was Stevens' boyfriend for about a year to a year and a half when they became engaged. I don't think this is long enough to call him a "longtime boyfriend". Aecis·(away) talk 23:05, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Ethnic Background
Should she be listed as Eurasian?
--Pertuk (talk) 17:29, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Never has it been officially confirmed that she is of Asian origin. This is pure fan speculation just because she apparently looks "a bit asian". Both of her birth parents look Caucasian.

Real name
Her real name is not Rachel Steinetski. I would change the article but it would just get changed back again. My reasons for believing this:

This was made up by satirical site www.theboard.org.uk (http://www.theboard.org.uk/index.php?m=200509) in an article which also mentions that she was gunged on the Dick and Dom show with un-kosher emu fat. Some clever person comes along and puts this on Wikipedia and, ever since, other sites have been mirroring and quoting the article. Now just because it has many Google hits does not mean that it is factually correct. Also, most of the articles are dated within the past few weeks.

Rachel's parents have featured occasionally in the media with the names Linda Stevens and Michael Stevens. Her brothers also have the surname 'Stevens'.

A quick search on Google shows that 'Steinetski' does not exist as a surname for any other person. In fact there are more results for "Rachel Steinetski" then there is for "Steinetski -Rachel"

Another search on 192.com shows that no person exists with the surname "Steinetski" in the UK according to the electoral roll or directory enquiries. A similar search on whitepages.com shows that this surname also does not exist in the USA.

Please feel free to prove otherwise but I think its unlikely this is her real name. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.49.163 (talk) 21:57, 27 January 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:I am the user that reverted your edits last week and now I agree that it is possible that that decision was mistaken. I missed the fact that theboard.org.uk was a satire site. The "evidence" above does nothing for your case though since it is inherently OR and there are some flaws in your arguments. However there does seem to be a lack of truly authoritative evidence for the surname. On the basis that it is better to say nothing at all than something that is possibly wrong I agree that the Steinetski assertion should be left out for now, but it should not be definitively ruled out in future if new information comes to light. CrispMuncher (talk) 19:09, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
::I'll err on the side of caution and leave it out for now as well. However, this info was sourced from ancestry.co.uk which is, as far as I know, a reliable source. I suppose it is possible that they too picked up the alleged joke and ran with it. I'm fairly certain I also read about her name being Steinetski in another publication, but I can't find it right now. If there are two reliable sources for it, I think it should be included.
