Thanks, but I think vandalism is intended to discredit the integrity of Wikipedia. This article was utter nonsense anyway. I'll use those other codes though. |

Ok, I will next time. However, the person who inserted it was an unregistered user and their edit was part of [[Special:Contributions/157.127.124.14|a series of edits]] of articles on famous SCI FI actors, claiming that they would be on BSG. Since I could find nothing on google to back up their assertion, it was very likely to be vandalism. --[[User:Bkkbrad|Bkkbrad]] 19:17, 9 December 2006 (UTC) |

== Ya' caught me, partner! == |
|||
I was in the midst of reformatting your citations when you posted a comment about it on my talk page. I usually make replies on the same page as the message to which I'm replying, but I wanted to get in touch anyway, and since you identified yourself as new to Wikipedia, thought you might not have put my talk page on your watch list. |
|||
Anyway, whenever I make a deletion, as per general Wiki custom, I always note the "why" on the corresponding talk page, unless it's an obvious typo correction or vandalism revert. The links you used for two citations had gone dead, returning "page not found" errors. I used the <nowiki>{{fact}}</nowiki> tag which displays "citation needed" just so we could keep track of where they had been in order to make an appropriate source substitution. Not a big deal. I just didn't want to leave dead links laying about, and had no way to determine the author, title, etc., to detail what we had missed. |
|||
I hope my expanding your references does not in any way cause affront, or discouragement. Including the full citation data per [[WP:CITE]] is not only recommended practice, but it makes the reference list more useful, both academically and casually, as one can scan it to see what links might be interesting to click. |
|||
Your article displays a lot of preparation, and plain, old fashioned, hard work. You're also obviously a quick study... you included a lot of bells and whistles I didn't catch on to right away. It's great to have you on board. -- '''J-M''' [[User:Jgilhousen|Jgilhousen]] 00:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC) |

== WPOR Collaboration of the Week == |
|||
Greetings [[WP:ORE|WPOR]] member, we are starting a weekly collaboration project where we will announce two articles that are currently stubs that we hope to work together to improve. No pressure to help, but if you would like to, just stop by one of the articles and see if you can find information to expand the article with, copy edit what is there, help with formatting, or add some images. This week’s articles are: '''[[Alis volat propriis]]''' and '''[[Fusitriton oregonensis]]'''. [[User:Aboutmovies|Aboutmovies]] 22:27, 13 August 2007 (UTC) |

== WPOR Collaboration of the Week == |
|||
Greetings [[WP:ORE|WikiProject Oregon]] employees. Well a big thanks to all those who helped improve [[Alis volat propriis]] and [[Fusitriton oregonensis]] last week. This week’s Stub improvement are: [[Government of Oregon]] which should be easy, and [[Miss Oregon]]. Again, no pressure to help with the collaboration, choose one, both, or neither. Also, feel free to opt out of the notifications at the new page dedicated to [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Collaboration|collaborative efforts at WPOR]] (newsletter is in R&D). == WPOR Collaboration of the Week == |
|||
Hello again [[WikiProject Oregon]] team members, its time for the next Collaboration of the Week. First a shout out to [[User:Sprkee|Sprkee]] for putting together some templates for this project. Now, in honor of Labor Day weekend and the outdoor nature of the activities that often accompany the three-day weekend, this week’s item is to de-redlink as many parks from the '''[[List of Oregon State Parks]]'''. Some may even by going to one of these places, a great opportunity to take a picture or two for an article. As always, participation is not required, though it is appreciated. And if you are caught, we will disavow any knowledge of your existence. Since we don’t want to waste any effort through duplication, please make a note on the [[Talk:List of Oregon State Parks|talk page]] of which park article you are going to start. Good day! [[User:Aboutmovies|Aboutmovies]] 19:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC) |

== September WPOR Collaboration of the Week == |
|||
First off, great job to all [[WP:ORE|WikiProject Oregon]] folks for last week’s [[List of Oregon State Parks]] work. We pounded out six new state park articles: [[Sarah Helmick State Recreation Site|Sarah Helmick]], [[Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint|Bald Peak]], [[Bob Straub State Park|Bob Straub]], [[Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge]], [[Tumalo State Park|Tumalo]], and [[Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint|Peter Skene Ogden]]. Plus numerous other edits to improve the existing articles. As a reward, we are introducing the COTW award {{tl|WPOR COTW award}}, and this time it goes to [[User:Woodstein52]] for starting three of the articles. |
|||
On to this week. We are back to the usual two Top importance Stubs: '''[[Sunstone]]''' and '''[[Oregon, My Oregon]]'''. Both are stub pluses, so it shouldn’t take much to upgrade them both. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Collaboration|click here]]. Good day! [[User:Aboutmovies|Aboutmovies]] 22:35, 9 September 2007 (UTC) |
|||
== WPOR Collaboration: 09172007 == |
|||
All righty WPOR ladies and gentleman, great job last week with our state song and gemstone. I have bumped them up to Start class. I haven’t looked at the contributions, so the COTW award will be later. |
|||
This week’s articles are '''[[Darlene Hooley]]''', by special request, and another Top stub, our very own state rock, the '''[[Thunderegg]]'''. Yes, apparently we have a state rock and state gemstone. No word on whether there is a state stone too. Hooley basically needs some sources to make it to the next level. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Collaboration|click here]]. In the words of Beaver Joe, whoop! Welcome!
Hello, EOBeav, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! -zappa.jake (talk) 07:44, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Your edit to Beth Trainor
[edit]Please do not blank pages, as it is considered a form of vandalism. If you feel a page needs to be deleted, see WP:CSD, WP:PROD, and WP:AFD. —Keakealani 07:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, but I think vandalism is intended to discredit the integrity of Wikipedia. This article was utter nonsense anyway. I'll use those other codes though.
- It's not a problem, of course, just thought you should know, since it may be taken the wrong way. —Keakealani 07:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, just would like to let you know that without a level 3 or 4 warning, admins may not block the user even if the user is reported.
Users must be appropriately warned using a final warning template, such as {{test3}}, {{test4}} or {{blatantvandal}} before being listed on this page. Users without appropriate final warnings will not be blocked.
Also, my personal view is it may not be a good idea to let the user know that he/she has been reported as he/she may go to the page and remove the entry. --Cyktsui 05:00, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
I've often done it myself, but don't forget to subst
[edit]When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Mr Stephen 23:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, instead of typing (eg) {{test}}, you type {{subst:test}}. That way, the text of the warning is added to the use talk page. If you miss the subst off, a link to the warning template is added. It varies according to the template you're using, but pretty well all warnings should be subst'ed. Have a look at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Regards, Mr Stephen 23:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Editing Brent Spiner
[edit]Ok, I will next time. However, the person who inserted it was an unregistered user and their edit was part of a series of edits of articles on famous SCI FI actors, claiming that they would be on BSG. Since I could find nothing on google to back up their assertion, it was very likely to be vandalism. --Bkkbrad 19:17, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Ya' caught me, partner!
[edit]I was in the midst of reformatting your citations when you posted a comment about it on my talk page. I usually make replies on the same page as the message to which I'm replying, but I wanted to get in touch anyway, and since you identified yourself as new to Wikipedia, thought you might not have put my talk page on your watch list.
Anyway, whenever I make a deletion, as per general Wiki custom, I always note the "why" on the corresponding talk page, unless it's an obvious typo correction or vandalism revert. The links you used for two citations had gone dead, returning "page not found" errors. I used the {{fact}} tag which displays "citation needed" just so we could keep track of where they had been in order to make an appropriate source substitution. Not a big deal. I just didn't want to leave dead links laying about, and had no way to determine the author, title, etc., to detail what we had missed.
I hope my expanding your references does not in any way cause affront, or discouragement. Including the full citation data per WP:CITE is not only recommended practice, but it makes the reference list more useful, both academically and casually, as one can scan it to see what links might be interesting to click.
Your article displays a lot of preparation, and plain, old fashioned, hard work. You're also obviously a quick study... you included a lot of bells and whistles I didn't catch on to right away. It's great to have you on board. -- J-M Jgilhousen 00:33, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

WPOR Collaboration of the Week
[edit]Greetings WPOR member, we are starting a weekly collaboration project where we will announce two articles that are currently stubs that we hope to work together to improve. No pressure to help, but if you would like to, just stop by one of the articles and see if you can find information to expand the article with, copy edit what is there, help with formatting, or add some images. This week’s articles are: Alis volat propriis and Fusitriton oregonensis. Aboutmovies 22:27, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
WPOR Collaboration of the Week
[edit]Greetings WikiProject Oregon employees. Well a big thanks to all those who helped improve Alis volat propriis and Fusitriton oregonensis last week. This week’s Stub improvement are: Government of Oregon which should be easy, and Miss Oregon. Again, no pressure to help with the collaboration, choose one, both, or neither. Also, feel free to opt out of the notifications at the new page dedicated to collaborative efforts at WPOR (newsletter is in R&D). Aboutmovies 18:50, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
WPOR Collaboration of the Week
[edit]Hello again WikiProject Oregon team members, its time for the next Collaboration of the Week. First a shout out to Sprkee for putting together some templates for this project. Now, in honor of Labor Day weekend and the outdoor nature of the activities that often accompany the three-day weekend, this week’s item is to de-redlink as many parks from the List of Oregon State Parks. Some may even by going to one of these places, a great opportunity to take a picture or two for an article. As always, participation is not required, though it is appreciated. And if you are caught, we will disavow any knowledge of your existence. Since we don’t want to waste any effort through duplication, please make a note on the talk page of which park article you are going to start. Good day! Aboutmovies 19:35, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
September WPOR Collaboration of the Week
[edit]First off, great job to all WikiProject Oregon folks for last week’s List of Oregon State Parks work. We pounded out six new state park articles: Sarah Helmick, Bald Peak, Bob Straub, Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge, Tumalo, and Peter Skene Ogden. Plus numerous other edits to improve the existing articles. As a reward, we are introducing the COTW award {{WPOR COTW award}}, and this time it goes to User:Woodstein52 for starting three of the articles.
On to this week. We are back to the usual two Top importance Stubs: Sunstone and Oregon, My Oregon. Both are stub pluses, so it shouldn’t take much to upgrade them both. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. Good day! Aboutmovies 22:35, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
WPOR Collaboration: 09172007
[edit]All righty WPOR ladies and gentleman, great job last week with our state song and gemstone. I have bumped them up to Start class. I haven’t looked at the contributions, so the COTW award will be later. This week’s articles are Darlene Hooley, by special request, and another Top stub, our very own state rock, the Thunderegg. Yes, apparently we have a state rock and state gemstone. No word on whether there is a state stone too. Hooley basically needs some sources to make it to the next level. Again to opt out or suggest future collaborative efforts click here. In the words of Beaver Joe, whoop! Aboutmovies 18:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
