It used to be possible to play Telia Digital TV using free software such as [[xine]] and [[mplayer]]. Telia changed their streams from MPEG2 to a broken format July 2009, a move that made it impossible to use their service without using the equipment provided by Telia. This equipment uses GNU GPL software, including the Linux kernel, and Telia refuses to provide the source code as required by the GNU GPL. The only thing Telia IPTV can be used for for those who have this "service" in the "FiberLan" walljack and use free software as of today is ''free internet access'' with 0.5mbit upstream and 100mbit downstream. The trick is to configure your interface for vlan 846, set MTU to 1460 and ask for DHCP with vendorclassid TeliaSonera_VIP1911 (dhcpcd -h "" -t 20 --noipv4ll -i "TeliaSonera_VIP1911_IP-please" eth0.845).
