The non-Aryan Asura people of India were a very, well-developed and food-producing nation. Hence another name of Indus civilization "Asuriyan civilization". It is surprising to think that eight thousand years ago, this civilization was a city-centric civilization, a matriarchal civilization. The houses were made of bricks. The city was well-planned and tidy. There were paved drains, paved roads and granaries. There were so many sophisticated bathrooms, which can accommodate even today's improved bathrooms. There were even surgical facilities. But what a cruel irony of history. Today, due to the cunning of the barbaric Aryan nation, they have lost their civilization-culture-money-wealth-nobility, sitting in the swampy forest, in the slums of an unknown village, suffering from hunger. The glorious lyric and culture of their past has been forgotten. The Asuras held the female race in the highest esteem. The Sur or Aryans were just the opposite. After entering India, the Aryans first destroyed the Harappa-Mohenjodaro or Asura civilization and ruthlessly killed its inhabitants. Durga Puja is held every year in this country. But has anyone ever wondered what is the real significance of this festival of killing demons? There are different opinions in the scriptures. Somehow in the Rig Veda it is different in the Brahmavaivarta Purana, but in the Kalikapurana it is different. |

After entering India, the Aryans first destroyed the Harappa-Mohenjodaro or Asura civilization and ruthlessly killed its inhabitants. The rest lived in the jungle for fear of their lives. In this land of India there are grandsons of the demon nation, great-grandfather's bones and fights. Durga Puja is held in this country every year. |

Now I will come to the context of how the battle of Sur-Asura took place. Different opinions are found in different scriptures written by Aryans or Brahmanists. There are stories of heroism of non-Aryan nations and barbarism of Aryan nations. According to the Brahmavaivarta Purana (Birth of Durga), when Mahisasur's father Jambhasur performed severe austerities on Brahma, Brahma was satisfied and said that the child to be born in your womb would be the hero of heaven-earth-hell-conquering hero. When attacked, Jambhasura becomes helpless and fights with a buffalo in front of him and Mahisasura is born. . According to verse 1.106.7 of the Rigveda, the non-Aryan warrior king Mahisasur fought with five main Aryan groups, namely, Puru, Jadu, Tarbasa, Anu and Druhyu. They sit together and consult and send beautiful Kamini-Nari Durga, an expert in dance-song, to Mahishasur. |
|||
This time I will come to the most important source. Professor and researcher Dr. Matin Murmu, Dhirendranath Baske, Nalini Ranjan Murmu, Bazar Hembrum, famous historian Dr. Hans Marken and many more researchers have come out with the history of Birshreshtha Raja Mahishasur. It meant cows, sheep, buffaloes, etc. In the native society of India, there was an honest, kind, powerful buffalo ruler named "Hudur-Durga". Hudur Durga inherited invincible power from the chief deity of the tribes "Marangburur". His kingdom was a vast region from the Himalayas to the Gangetic plains. Was defeated again and again. The defeated Aryan chieftains come together and adopt a strategy. Ahur Hudur employs a dancer, a deceiver, Kamini Aryakanya, who is skilled in dance, to deceive Durga by deceitful tricks. With the help of Ahur, Hudur killed Durga strategically. As a result of Ahur's victory by killing Hudur Durga, Parvati was called "Durga". |
|||
In the joy of killing the heroic warriors of the indigenous people, the northern Suri Brahmanists of the Aryan culture rejoiced in the name of Durgotsab from the seventh to the tenth. Later in the streets, Dashai dances and sings "Hai Hai" to mourn the memory of their heroic warrior. So the word "Hai Hai" is used at the beginning and end of each Dashai song. Does. Because the tribal male warriors led by Parvati were defeated in the battle with the Aryan tribesmen and fled in the guise of women, its reflection can still be seen in the Dashai dance song. Begging is forbidden according to "Sari Dharma". So on the roads, on the trains, on the buses, the adivasis are not seen begging at all. He saved his life by begging from the villagers and even today Dashai dance-song performers remember the incident. |
|||
In the life of the indigenous people of India, Ahur-Hudur is a great hero and patriotic martyr like Durga. Durga is a symbol of Aryan culture and Brahmanism. That is why no adivasi pays homage to the idol of Durga. The Brahmanical culture has manipulated the Dalits and other backward classes and destroyed the culture of the natives. As a result, many people forget their source and past history and worship Durga. But today there is a growing awareness among all the natives of India - they are curious about their origins and history. As a result, their lost history and culture is slowly being reborn. So, in this 21st century, the "Aryan-Non-Aryan conflict" is inevitably approaching --- which can be called 'counter-revolution'. |

The rest lived in the jungle for fear of their lives. In this land of India there are grandsons of the demon nation, great-grandfather's bones and fights. Durga Puja is held in this country every year. |
|||
They sit together and consult and send beautiful Kamini-Nari Durga, an expert in dance-song, to Mahishasur. |
|||
As a result of Ahur's victory by killing Hudur Durga, Parvati was called "Durga". |
|||
He saved his life by begging from the villagers and even today Dashai dance-song performers remember the incident. |
|||

[edit]I doubt all the green skin thingy and the form of a giant buffalo is cooked up in the TV serials. take a look at the photo of the statue. All the durga, chamundeshwari temples in southern India have this mahishasura statue as far as I've known. --Hpnadig 11:43, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
TL;DR
[edit]Much too much text in one paragraph. Plus, is this copy and paste? Kortoso (talk) 22:44, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Copy and Paste?

- If you go to http://self.gutenberg.org/articles/mahishasura it says, "Improve this at the source", so I clicked "source" and found myself on the Wikipedia article. Their sourcing statement is a lie. Ogress 18:12, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Removed a lot of text
[edit]Only the first paragraph seemed relevant in the section about Mahishasura's sister, so I removed the rest. I could not see the connection between her and any of the other information. If anyone would like to go back and edit those paragraphs to incorporate a connection with her, please do so. Mlstillo (talk)mlstillo —Preceding undated comment added 00:51, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you! There's also some archaic language in here, which leads me to believe that some of this was copied from it. I've tried to modernize some of the text. Kortoso (talk) 18:36, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Mahishasura's sister (Kerala)
[edit]Can someone please double check whether Mahishi is the name of Mahishasura's mother or his sister? Also, is there really a story in Kerala of his sister wanting to avenge his killing by the goddess Durga? --NJ (talk) 18:38, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Here is Mahishi's entry: Mahishi_(Mahishasur's_Sister). Apparently she's his sister. Did you see anyplace where she is his mother? Sometimes myths go both ways. Sorry, but that article is extremely wordy as well. Kortoso (talk) 19:26, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
The article variously mentions Mahishi as his mother and his sister. I'm sorry but I cannot accept the accuracy of this article until someone verifies the facts. --NJ (talk) 00:30, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Factual accuracy?
[edit]I don't know if this is the right template for a mythology article. Probably we are looking for an authorative citation. Kortoso (talk) 19:30, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Asur Puja/Hudur Durga
[edit]I have found these websites: The New Indian Express, India.com and [Times of India regarding Asur Puja a.k.a. Hudur Durga that can be added to the article, but not sure where to add. It is about the worshipping of the Asur community mourning the death of Mahishasura twice annually. -- 50-Man (talk) 17:03, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
