Notability
[edit]This draft fits the notability requirements of significant media coverage, as both the album and it's singles have been covered by a wide array of mainstream media outlets. Memories of (talk) 02:30, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- I agree that this album is plenty notable (possibly one of the most anticipated albums of the year, in fact)—but not enough of that coverage has been included in this draft yet, hence why it's yet not an article. A number of the Twitter and other primary sources need to be replaced first before it can be moved to the mainspace. Sean Stephens (talk) 03:18, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

Recent decline of draft
[edit]@Liance: Hi! I noticed you recently declined this draft because there was already a copy in mainspace. However, the draft article (this article) was always the original article, and the one that was in mainspace before I redirected it (Montero (album)) was simply a copy/paste move of this draft to mainspace. I have resubmitted the article, if you could please take another look at it, that would be great. Thanks! D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 23:29, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Doggy54321 I have marked the mainspace article for G6 speedy deletion so we can get the draft accepted - thanks for catching the copy-paste move. The draft meets WP:NALBUM in my opinion and I will accept it as soon as the redirect gets deleted. Best, -Liancetalk/contribs 23:36, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Genre: "Gay pop"
[edit]@GogoLion:, contrary to your claim that this isn't a genre, "gay pop" is identified as either a distinctive musical aesthetic or genre in the following sources:
- Pop Music Production by Phil Harding
- "Breaking the Binary in Music: Gender-Bending and Genre-Bending" by Rigel Gemini
- "Is There a 'Gay Aesthetic' to Pop Music?" by Geoffrey Himes
... all seemingly expert sources. Additionally, "queer pop" is identified as a genre in several reliable sources... There is teen pop, blue-eyed soul, black prog/rock... Robert Christgau is cited in the critical reception section as calling the album "gay pop". What issues do you have with identifying it as such in the infobox? - The Phil Harding book is doubtful that gay pop exists, saying it is "possibly" a sub-genre, and describing gay music producers as treading the established paths of pop music. Your other links have more promise for proof that there is a notable genre out there. We have a Wikipedia essay/advice page called write the article first; if that advice were followed here, you would write a genre article called something like Gay pop (currently redirects to LGBT music which is a general survey) or Queer pop. Regarding Christgau, he pulls his punch by saying there are not very many "gay pop" albums like Montero, lessening the impact of his assertion.[1] I don't see the problem with linking gay pop in the Christgau quote, but it certainly doesn't link to a genre closely matching Montero.
