The 2018 K League 2 is the sixth season of the K League 2, the second tier South Korean professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2013, and the first one with its current name, the K League 2. The top-ranked team and the winner of the promotion play-offs among three clubs ranked between second and fourth will get promoted to the K League 1 after the regular season ends.
The 2018 K League 2 was the sixth season of the K League 2, the second-highest division in the South Korean football league system.

Asan Mugunghwa once again grabbed an opportunity for promotion by winning its second K League 2 title (officially first title after Ansan era), but its owner Korean Police Agency did not recruit new players who could meet clubs' requisite for maintenance before the end of the season. Asan Mugunghwa, which was in the process of being dissolved, was finally disqualified from promoting.

Runners-up Seongnam FC directly qualified for the K League 1 instead of Asan Mugunghwa, and the third, fourth, and fifth-placed team advanced to the promotion playoffs.

Promotion-Relegation Playoffs
Promotion playoffs
Bracket
Promotion and relegation playoffs are held between 3rd~5th clubs of 2018 K League 2 and 11th club of 2018 K League 1. If scores are tied after regular time at Semi-Playoff and Playoff, the higher placed team advances to the next phase. The same conditions do not apply to Promotion-Relegation Playoffs.

The 2018 K League 2 was the sixth season of the K League 2, the second-highest division in the South Korean football league system.[2]

Asan Mugunghwa once again grabbed an opportunity for promotion by winning its second K League 2 title (officially first title after Ansan era), but its owner Korean Police Agency did not recruit new players who could meet clubs' requisite for maintenance before the end of the season. Asan Mugunghwa, which was in the process of being dissolved, was finally disqualified from promoting.[3]

Runners-up Seongnam FC directly qualified for the K League 1 instead of Asan Mugunghwa, and the third, fourth, and fifth-placed team advanced to the promotion playoffs.
