Intersession
I changed an edit about the 4-1-4 schedule. I don't think we can call it "unique" as I'm fairly certain at least one other college uses a similar format. "Unusual" is a better word, I think. Midnightdreary 02:44, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Jefferson College
If any one is interested in creating a strictly Jefferson College wiki entry let me know, as I have a biography-like document on it, as well as student directories from the 1850s. These items are part of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity Archives. -- ~TNT~ 15:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I made a few new pages. I hope they look ok. List of Washington & Jefferson College people and President of Washington & Jefferson College.

Unsource information
The following is unsourced material:
* W<s>&J's Old Main is home to the plaster model used to sculpt the head of Jefferson for the Jefferson Memorial.</s> Replaced, with source.
* <s>W&J was granted a Phi Beta Kappa chapter in 1937.</s> Replaced, with source.
*<s> W&J's traditional college cheer is "Whichi Coax!"</s> Section added. with sources
*<s>Library archives show that W&J's student literary society, named after Benjamin Franklin, included honorary members such as Horace Mann, John Quincy Adams, and Edgar Allan Poe.</s>
**Poe referenced at Literary societies at Washington & Jefferson College. (I'm skeptical of the other claims, and I haven't seen any good reference for them.)--GrapedApe (talk) 06:06, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
*<s>The doorknob used in the 1939 film "Gone With The Wind" for the front door of Tara is now a part of the library in Lazear Hall.</s>
**Referenced and incorporated into List_of_Washington_%26_Jefferson_College_buildings#Lazear_Chemistry_Hall.--GrapedApe (talk) 06:06, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
* <s>Coach John Heisman, of whom the Heisman Memorial Trophy Award is named after, coached at Washington and Jefferson College.</s> Replaced, with source
While this is interesting, we can't use it unless you provide a source. Also, none of this is really trivia, as trivia by its definition is "unimportant information" - it therefore shouldn't be in a trivia section but instead the information should be incorporated into the main article. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 06:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

**Did you consider looking for any of this yourself? I found sources for 3 of them in a couple of minutes. Niteshift36 (talk) 08:20, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

List of notable alumni is too long
This list is too long to include in the article, especially as a separate page has a longer list. I will reduce it.--Parkwells (talk) 14:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

The Infobox
For the infobox, the official school colors are red and black. According to W&J Graphics Standards Guide - Color Palette, the specific red is "Pantone 1807," which, according to this chart is #A03033 in hex. I guess what I 'm saying is: these are the right colors, so please don't change them. Thanks.--Jwilkinsen (talk) 19:56, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
:I expanded the section about the log college years, so if someone wants to work on it, that's good. I plan on working on a section for each historical period (log colleges, the two academies, the pre-union colleges, the post-union colleges), and will probably spin the whole thing off into its own page "History of Washington & Jefferson College." The rest of that section is a mess, with unsourced complaints, and will be edited down soon.--Jwilkinsen (talk) 06:26, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Latin name
The "Latin name" field of the infobox is for the Latin name of the college. The current text says Sigillum Collegii Washingtoniensis et Jeffersoniensis, which is simply what's written on the seal: it literally means "The Seal of Washington and Jefferson College". In short, it is not the Latin name of the college. That, I believe, would be Collegium Washingtoniensis et Jeffersoniensis. I'm posting this on the talk page rather than simply correcting it to ask whether anyone here knows better, or has seen the Latin name represented in another way. — AlekJDS talk 15:50, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
:I also ask because, as far as I'm aware, the grammar of the seal is incorrect. The word sigillum (also the word collegium) is neuter gender; the adjectives Washingtoniensis and Jeffersoniensis ought to be -iense, so that the name of the college would be Collegium Washingtoniense et Jeffersoniense. (See this list on Latin Wikipedia for reference.) — AlekJDS talk 15:54, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
::If true, this is very disturbing, and I hope a member of the administration or the trustees investigate further.--GrapedApe (talk) 06:32, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
:::Somehow, more than a year after I posted this, it crossed my mind today that I am completely wrong. The word collegii is genitive, so the adjectives Washingtoniensis and Jeffersoniensis are, of course, in agreement and also genitive. So there is no error. DUH — AlekJDS talk 23:33, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
::::That's a relief! --GrapedApe (talk) 12:18, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

Claims that need more documentation
There are several claims made by the college that, because of their exceptional nature, should have some additional sourcing beyond that provided by the college itself. Please see policy on exceptional claims and WP:SELFPUBLISH for more information.
*Oldest college west of the Allegheny Mountains Good Ole W&J
*11th oldest college in America
*28% of students are the first in their families to go to college.
*Third in the country in producing attorneys
**I hope that further documentation can be found to substantiate these claims.--GrapedApe (talk) 06:24, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop at CMU (Aug 15)
Editors interested in this article may find the Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop that will take place at CMU on Aug 15 of interest. This workshop is open to general public, and is a joint imitative of CMU and Pitt). There will be another workshop held at Pitt in the Fall as well. It will cover how to include Wikipedia in one's course (WP:SUP) and also how to become a Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors. Pennsylvania has currently only one ambassador (myself) and it would be great if we could recruit at least several more. Ambassadors help course instructors, showing them how Wikipedia works, and interact with students. Many current ambassadors come from the body of students, faculty and university staff; it is a fun adventure, and adds to one resume/CV, to boot :) If it sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions, or to come to the workshop. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus&#124;<font style="color:#7CFC00;background:#006400;"> talk </font> 20:32, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
