::So basically a country is listed in the database record if some entity in that country helped finance the film. It has nothing to do with which company actually produced, as in created, the film. We should stick with nationality of the credited production company or companies, companies that are in the actual business of making films. A message to everyone who thinks this movie will underperform at the box office
[edit]I’ve heard several people on the Internet say that this movie will underperform at the box office compared to the first movie (which made $104 million opening weekend and $368 million total. Frankly, I don’t think those people know what they’re talking about. Sure, this movie has some competition for family audiences this summer (Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Aladdin, etc), but I don’t think any of those movies will greatly affect this one. This is Illumination we’re talking about here! They always make a lot of money off their movies. MY PREDICTION: Opening Weekend: $125 million (most animated sequels make more money than the first movie) Total: $400 million
- Talk pages are meant to discuss possible improvements to the article, they are not a comment section. If you want to share your opinion of box office predictions for this film, social media or personal blogs are better suited for that, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. -Gouleg (Talk • Contribs) 17:05, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
Where's the final poster?
[edit]Hello, is there any reason why I didn't see the final poster of this movie today? I am so worried.

- Please see WP:CRYSTAL and try to avoid speculation. Actors are unlikely to say bad things before a film has been released. Actors are often tied into multi-film contracts and are still unlikely to say bad things even after a film bombs. This should probably not have been added to the article. This film looked like it did well so a sequel or spin-off does seem likely but until they announce that they have gone into production I don't think it is appropriate to add anything. Again please try to avoid speculation, this is still supposed to be an encyclopedia. -- 109.78.244.23 (talk) 04:22, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Possible sequel
[edit]I've removed the "Sequel" section, and I probably shouldn't have even tried to rewrite the misguided speculation in the first place. It was only comments from actors right in the middle of promoting the film saying they'd prefer not to be unemployed. There is no film in development.

Nationality of production
[edit]Only production company listed is American. Japan and France were added with a national database source but that conflicts with their being no Japanese or French production companies involved with the production. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:03, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- The issue appears to be that the Lumiere site attributes "producing countries" to all those who provided financing.
Adopting a pragmatic approach, the Observatory considers as the country of origin of a specific film the country out of which the film is financed. In the case of international co-productions, the film is assigned to the country which provides the majority share of production financing. The Observatory tries to list all co-producing countries in the order of their financial investment in the film (whether known or assumed), with the country having provided the majority financial investment in the production in first place.
[2] Barry Wom (talk) 16:21, 18 March 2024 (UTC)- So basically a country is listed in the database record if some entity in that country helped finance the film. It has nothing to do with which company actually produced, as in created, the film. We should stick with nationality of the credited production company or companies, companies that are in the actual business of making films. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:02, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
