Plot
The Middle East diplomat who vouched for Assad earlier now changes his mind after the bombing. However, President Palmer forces him to cooperate by telling him about "the carrier groups off his country's shores". Back in the boiler room, Reed exclaims that "we are not murderers!" in defending his opinion against killing Lennox. Carson, who Reed brings in using Lennox's clearance card, reluctantly agrees and begins to assemble the bomb. Their plan is to kill the president and blame it on Assad, so that the American government might attack the Middle East.
Chloe continues to cover for Morris as Bill and Nadia become more concerned. While Morris is allegedly drinking (and seated on the pot) in the men's room, Chloe, finding him absent from his customary desk position, burst in, with concern about his drinking. Morris reassures Chloe that he is not drinking. After Chloe leaves the men's room, Morris takes out his drink and just pours it down the drain.

When Fayed calls Gredenko, it is revealed that Gredenko has acquired three American-made drone aircraft to deliver the three remaining nuclear bombs to populated locations. The drones will take three hours to prepare, if instructions are followed and the preparers aren't disrupted. Gredenko also expresses disdain for Fayed and Fayed's people in general.

Marilyn thanks Jack for saving her son's life; however, Jack does not appear to appreciate Marilyn's inability to come to Jack's rescue. Jack then visits former President Charles Logan who is under house arrest after he was tipped by Philip Bauer. Logan claims to have changed since his involvement with David Palmer's assassination. Logan claims that the Russian Consulate General in Los Angeles has information on the whereabouts of Gredenko. Logan then says that he must talk to the Consul face to face. Jack convinces a reluctant President Wayne Palmer to temporarily let Logan leave his house. As Jack and Logan prepare to leave, Logan is seen looking at himself in a mirror and reciting a Bible passage. As Jack is talking to Bill Buchanan on the phone, he sees a Bible in which a the same verse is highlighted in the book of Psalms. Logan had claimed earlier that he has had time to ponder about his faith.

Carson, who Reed brought in earlier, makes a bomb out of two tubes of chemicals hidden in a mini cassette recorder and gives Reed a detonator. When Reed leaves, Lennox twists a pressure valve with his foot, but is stopped by Carson. After Reed successfully place the bomb in the podium, he goes into an empty room where he detonates the bomb. When Assad is about to speak, he notices the dripping from the disguised bomb as a countdown occurs on the newscast, and calls out about the bomb. After the explosion, the scene closes with the unconscious forms of Assad and the President. Earlier, one of the bombing conspirators said the president needs to be within a 10 feet radius for the assassination to work. The show ends with both Assad and the President down.

Trivia
*The woman whom Chloe thinks is Morris' AA sponsor is played by Nancy Cartwright, who is better known as the voice of Bart Simpson.
*In reality, there is no Russian Consulate General in Los Angeles. The nearest one is located in San Francisco.
*The code for the bomb is 6-2-4. This could possibly stand for Day 6 of 24.
*When the bomb placed under the podium where Assad was supposed to speak exploded, it is clear that recycled footage from Season 5 in which the server room at Omicron International blew up was used for a few seconds.
*Coincidentally, a similar bombing incident occurred in a Baghdad meeting hall on the day this episode aired. Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul-Mahdi, who had just finished speaking to a group of people, was wounded by a bomb thought to have been hidden in his podium.
*Jayne Atkinson, Eric Balfour and Regina King do not appear in this episode.
