Inhabitants are mainly bajezi, khattak, swati and mians( bachagan). A single Basic health unit is located near the road. Government schools ( seperate male and female) are present. Mians are most educated living in a seperate area "Fazle Abad". They are the descendants of Faqir Shah commonly known by the name of Baba Jee. All of the family members have surname Fazle. Beyond the area of Fazle Abad is a mountain having some relics of old civilization in a specific area known as Diggar.
The estimated population is around 45000.

District Malakand has 2 [[Tehsils]] i.e. [[Swat Ranizai]] and [[Sam Ranizai]]. Each Tehsil comprises certain numbers of [[Union councils of Pakistan|Union councils]]. There are 28 union councils in district Malakand.
