This school is incredibly unique because of its self-directed learning style, where students have set class blocks during the school week and free blocks to independently work. The FSO (fruit salad organization) is led by Scott Mccafferty but is primarily student-run. It is the GSA (gay-straight alliance) and acts as a safe space for the queer students of Thomas Haney. The FSO hosts a variety of events at Thomas Haney Secondary school, and will often work alongside the student council.
