The '''Elster Valley Bridge Pirk''' is one of the most unusual motorway bridges in Germany. With the building of this bridge 1937 were begun. It had to be adjusted 1940 because of the Second World War. Since this bridge lay in the border restricted area of the GDR, it remained until 1990 a fallow-lying building site. In June 1990 with preliminary investigations and finally initiated in September 1990 the building of far was begun. In August 1993 she was finally transferred to traffic. Over the bridge since then the traffic of the federal motorway 72 flows. The Elstertalbruecke Pirk spans the white elster. It possesses bricked columns and elbows, which one cover from concrete carry. It has a length of 503,5 m and possesses 14 elbows with field widths between 17 meters and 38.5 meters. |

The bridge could not be finished until after German reunification because after the war it lay in the restricted area of the East German state. In June 1990 preliminary investigations began, and building restarted in September 1990. In August 1993 the bridge was finally opened to traffic.[1]
