Redundancies and long-winded writing (part 1)

"Exemptions from fasting include those traveling, menstruating, severely ill, pregnant, or breastfeeding. However, Muslims in these categories may still choose to fast in order to satisfy their spiritual needs, even though it is not recommended by hadith." --- I suggest writing "Exemptions from fasting may include those traveling, menstruating, severely ill..." and then cutting the second sentence. Then it would be obvious that anyone who wants to fast can always do so. The business about spiritual needs is not for us to decide (many religious actions are not motivated by "spiritual needs") and should be deleted in any case. --Melchior2006 (talk) 14:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redundancies and long-winded writing (part 2)

"In addition to abstaining from eating and drinking during this time, Muslims abstain from sexual relations and sinful speech and behaviour during Ramadan fasting or month." Since we had "during this time" in the first part of the sentence, it is redundant to state "during Ramadan" at the end of the sentence. "Muslims believe that Ramadan teaches them ... sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate" -- then we have at the end of the sentence: "fasting helps instill compassion for the food-insecure poor." Since "less fortunate" was at the beginning, "food-insecure poor" at the end is redundant. I suggest cutting the long-winded repetition. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 14:43, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

-Imagine not eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset every day for 30 days straight. Well, Muslims do that one month every year and that month is called Ramadan which is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar. What is Ramadan and what does it mean what is the purpose for fasting for 30 days and who is obligated to fast if you are at the age where you can fast it is obligated to do so. If you are a child elder or woman who is on their period they are not allowed to fast. Ramadan is meant to be the time of spiritual cleansing, It is meant to show how to do the poor feel without eating and drinking and the duty to help them and be thankful for self-improvement and being a better person for themselves.
