Hi again. Noticed this edit & thought I'd let you know: That generally only applies if there's a separate discography article for the artist in question. Like we have the separate article Ramones discography, so at Ramones#Discography we use a Main link to point to the separate article and list only the studio albums in the band article. We call that summary style. Since there's no Jason Newsted discography article, it's OK to list live albums, EPs, etc. at Jason Newsted#Discography because nowhere else is there a complete list of his recorded work.

:: LOL u r rite u kinda sing mor lik perreir from simple plan or joel from good charlotte. minigun r so good pop punk from 2000 i bought every cassete n stuff
I'll take a crack at those Rancid articles tomorrow, by the way. --IllaZilla (talk) 05:43, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

::: To be quite honest, we were going for a more 90s pop punk approach. BLAguyMONKEY! (talk) 23:53, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
Side note: sometimes you can use the summary style for an individual musician even if they don't have a separate discography article. Like at Lars Ulrich#Discography that works because he plays on every Metallica release. For Newsted, though, it makes more sense to list all the stuff he played on because he only plays on a portion of Metallica's discography. --IllaZilla (talk) 05:50, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi, noticed your moves of a couple of Black Flag articles & moved them back. Thought you'd want to know why. Nervous Breakdown, Jealous Again, Six Pack, TV Party, The Process of Weeding Out, and I Can See You are classified by most sources as EPs, and that's how they were always described by the band and label. "Louie Louie" is the only true single in the band's catalog, as it's just 1 song per side. "Annihilate This Week" varies in its classification: The argument for it being a single is that all 3 tracks are from Who's Got the 10½?, but they're only on the CD reissue; They were left off the original LP & cassette releases due to length, & so were released as a stand-alone...similar to what happened with I Can See You and In My Head. So I would classify it as an EP, and some of the sources do as well. I know this can be confusing, but take it from someone who's read multiple books about Black Flag: Spray Paint the Walls: The Story of Black Flag by Stevie Chick, American Hardcore: A Tribal History by Steven Blush, and Our Band Could Be Your Life by Michael Azerrad all back me up on this: Six Pack and TV Party are EPs, not singles. --IllaZilla (talk) 07:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

List of best-selling music artists
{{Ivmbox|Hello, Blaguymonkey. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
At the list of best selling music artists we rely on certified sales more than sales figures claimed by sources. See the percentage requirements for certified sales posted at the top of Talk:List of best-selling music artists. Also, see this archived discussion on ABBA. ABBA have begun appearing on the charts before 1975; therefore, they must have their claimed figure covered by 15% certified sales. They don't have enough certified sales to be listed with 370 million. Regards.--Harout72 (talk) 16:22, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
:We no longer list artists with what sources simply claim, we look at whether artists have enough certified sales to support such figures. This resolution was done to avoid filling the list with inflated sales figures. While the record companies always claim illogical sales figures for their artists, at the end of the day, the certified sales will help you know where the actual sales really stand.--Harout72 (talk) 06:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

::Well, it is relatively a new policy, about a year old. So far it's been helping us to keep the list in order.--Harout72 (talk) 16:14, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

:::Since we have so many artists on the list, it took some time to go over each one. While I personally removed numerous artists from the list due to our new policy, slightly inflated sales figures which also needed removal were brought to my attention later. ABBA isn't the only band/artist who's gone though this months later after the policy was amended, Roxette (see this discussion), Kylie Minogue (see this discussion), Iron Maiden (see this discussion) had figures that didn't meet the required percentage. Others; however, were simply removed months later including Jean Michel Jarre (see this), Deep Purple (see this). There were others too, you'd just have to go through the archived discussions. I hope this clears things up a bit.--Harout72 (talk) 16:25, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:33, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
