I recall hearing in a documentary that many liberals did not vote for Humphrey because they did not like him as a candidate. The article doesn't seem to discuss this. "Humphrey entered the race too late to participate in any primaries". I'd think we should change the word "any" to "most". For example, he able to run as a write-in in the [[1968 United States presidential election in Illinois#Democratic|Illinois primary]] as a write-in, and placed third. I recall hearing in a documentary that many liberals did not vote for Humphrey because they did not like him as a candidate. The article doesn't seem to discuss this.
