Bayman Profession
Technically, this should be an article about the profession of a bayman, one who basically goes shellfishing in bays, an important occupation of early Long Island, USA history. That character is definitely an ambiguation of this term, I may just have to change things soon enough when I have more than a stub to write about the profession.

I have fixed the article and removed the cleanup tag. It is now at least on par with the rest of the DOA character pages. If source is questioned all of the info I added came either directly from in game content or from a game manual.--Alfador 04:29, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

History and Personality
What are the sources for all of this new information? being a Wiki fact article, it is important that this all come from a reliable source and that all speculation on the part of either the editor or the source is either eliminated or stated as such in the article. Also, sorting the timeline by game to entirely different categories seems a little much, so I'm going to look into combinging them, especially since DOA3 contains nothing.--Alfador 23:19, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

*Personality sections can be determined from quotes, in game mannerisms, endings, etc. After playing through all the games, its not so difficult to understand a character's personality. As for the timeline, it should stay in the article to allow easy destiction between the character's motivation in the games. But as for the fact that DOA3 contains "nothing" as you put it, that's not true. Just some characters more or less have insignifigant or significant goals/ intresets in the tournament in others. As for your concensus, I don't understand it- information and formality has been stripped FROM the article and frankly it worries me just a little. If you want to do such things, discuss your changes with the rest of the DOA-wiki community and please don't just blindly make assumptions; my info-gathering has been the product of months of research and I would appreciate if others would do the same before doing something like this. Thank you.-MegamanZero 5:46 30,November 2005 (UTC)

::fair enough, however, ther references to his comparison to Leon and his actual appearance history should not be totally removed as they do hold importance to the encyclopedic intent of the article. One could argue that you have done the same thing you criticize me for. As a result I'm going to place them back in, in a manner unobtrusive to the rest of the article. Regarding DOA3 containing nothing, it did, and as a result should have not been placed as a subsection until information was to be put in it; it follows the same convention as not wikilinking to non-existing articles. Unless there is a large cache of information in DOA4 that I have yet to see, I feel it is still very important to question the sources regarding the "Before DOA" and others as well. Specifically, when he puts his skills to "good use" that implies morality, which arguably is not part of an mercenary/asassin's thought process. If the "before DOA" section is as it would seem based on conjecture or inference from the game content, and not directly cited, it should be stated as such. I'm not trying to make waves here, just looking out for the nature of this article as that of an encyclopedia, in which it should remain as inobjective and informational as possible. As a result fact can be stated as fact, but speculation, conjecture, inference, estimations and soforth should all be remarked as such to maintain the credibility of the article, especially if no sources are directly referenced.--Alfador 16:56, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

* No problem regrading the sources. Its a simple matter really- I just don't have a habbit of citing them. My mistake, but in this case, it should be quite obvious. The instruction booklets, the games themseves, CG scenes, etc. (DOAU cleared a lot of things up) I've been playing these things for years, and after learning a bit of japanese, I've come to understand thier personalities, histories, etc. (of course, you don't need jap to know the history, however). Also, I apologize for removing the leon info you referenced above, I must have overlooked it, and it is indeed a valid point in the article. On another point, the fact DOA3 (well...the series as a whole could use a better story...but...) is pretty sorry in terms of story is apparent; I definitely agree with you on that; characters like Bayman and Brad...well...thier reasons at the tournament make almost no sense). =) But, hey...I just do my research and write the articles in that respect. Hopefully DOA4 will clear things up for us. Finally, about the image problem comment you said on my page, I have no qualms about you "setting things right", however, that's old news and its been dealt with properly, please don't jump out in the middle of nowhere and resurface old comments on my userpage for no reason. Tregowelth has already made me up to speed regrading images, thanks, and your assistance (which I'm assuming was meant to help, correct?) was not needed. Thanks anyway though, and please continue to stick around and help me in my quest in making DOA articles better for wikipedia. Bayman and Leon's rivalry?

[edit]

Where did this bit of info come from? I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned before that Bayman was once hired to kill Leon. During previous DoA tournaments they seemed (good) friends.

Fair use rationale for Image:Doa4 bayman 1600.jpg

[edit]

Image:Doa4 bayman 1600.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
