==Recent Incidents==
===November 2009 School Bus Incident===

On November 19, 2009, Michael Dibella, 73, a bus driver for the Elwood District on Bus I, was accused of passionately kissing and inappropriately touching an 11 year old sixth grader at the end of the drop off route. He was reported to stop a short distance from the girl's house. He reportedly turned off the ignition, sat next to the student, grabbed her face, and kissed her on the lips multiple times. After the incident, Dibella let the girl go. The parents of the victim reported the incident, and he was arrested by Suffolk County Police for "dangering the welfare of a child". The information was not given out to the public until December 1, 2009. In a hearing Dibella had pleaded "Not Guilty" A spree of angry internet comments have been made to insult him by some of the residents.

Considered widely to be the most controversial incident in recent history of the district, the story has made headlines of many local newspapers and caused mass awareness of parents within the town of Huntington. The Elwood School District, in return released the following statement:

"The bus driver, employed by Huntington Bus Company, had no prior disciplinary incidents and was cleared by the State Education Department to work in the schools. He will no longer work in the Elwood School District."

===Bomb Threats===
There have been two notable bomb threats in the school's recent history. The first was on April 28, 2009 when a threat was posted on the boy's lavatory wall issuing a bombing to take place on May 5, 2009. The school took extreme precautions, but the bombing was unsuccessful. It was considered to be a practical joke.

The next one was on January 20, 2011, in which the school was briefly evacuated. Police searched the building, finding no bombs, and classes were restored shortly thereafter.
