colony of Belgium?
The main body of the article gives nuances that would not be in the introductory paragraph; but still, is it correct to simply say Burundi was a Belgian colony? I think it is misleading. Perhaps this sentence: "Both Germans and Belgians ruled Burundi and Rwanda as a European colony known as Ruanda-Urundi" could be changed to "Germans ruled Burundi as a colony until it was joined to Rwanda as a Mandate of the League of Nations entrusted to Belgium, which treated it as a colony until independence in 1962."
I would also say the whole lede is far too long, with much material that should be moved to the body of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Richardson mcphillips (talk • contribs) 01:31, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Is Gitega already capital?
The article listed new capital city of Burundi. But only one source is citied for this, and in this source information is only about decision of the government, furthermore in this source we can read: "Parliament, dominated by the ruling party, must still approve the move." So, no source in the article that capital was formally moved to Gitega. Moreover, information is only about de iure procedure. Have government and president moved to Gitega, or still they are in Bujumbura? If the second then Bujumbura is still de facto capital. Former good articleBurundi was one of the Geography and places good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Conflicting information needs editing:

[edit]

The main body of the article, in the sentence culminating in footnote #15, states that the population density of Burundi is 753 people per square mile, while the side bar states that the population density is 1,040.1 people per square mile. That's quite a discrepancy. Would someone like to take a stab at correcting it? I don't have time right now to determine which one is correct, but hopefully someone else will. Thanks! 108.16.121.38 (talk) 18:20, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My dearest apologies

I would like to apologize for my recent edits concerning the Presidency of Burundi. I took down what I thought was unsourced and wrong edit. Part of my confusion was when it stated that “ absence or temporary impediment of the President of the Republic, the First Vice-President will assure the management of current affairs and if the First Vice-President is unavailable, then the Second Vice-President.” this lead me to believe that the absences also included death, but I later learned that it is different if the President dies. Another reason for me removing the edit was that I found no article’s relating to the new President of Burundi. So in good faith removed the edit from the article. But after further investigation, I found a article conforming the conformation of the new acting President and so I restored the original edit to way it was before I changed it. Again my dearest apologies to everyone.BigRed606 (talk) 21:59, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
