Dairy Queen in Moline and Green River
Infobox
According to the infobox, there were 5,700 stores and 2,362 employees in 2008, so obviously something is wrong. Does anyone have correct numbers? --DangApricot (talk) 01:39, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
:Well, docstoc, which is usually pretty good, says 5,800 stores and 2,362 employees. The 5,800 is for Dairy Queen, Orange Julius and Karmelkorn stores (all part of the chain) the 2,362 is employees of IDQ, the company. It would seem that most of the stores, then, are not owned by the chain. If I were to open a Dairy Queen franchise, the pimple-faced people slinging "soft serve" there would be my employees, not Dairy Queen's. - SummerPhD (talk) 03:39, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

You listed Puerto Rico as a country that no longer has DQ. Well, yes, it doesn't have DQ any more, but last I checked(the diligent work of the Puerto Rican independence movement notwithstanding)it's still a commonwealth of the U.S. Just thought that should be pointed out.

I can state categorically that there are no Dairy Queen stores in Ireland. Will someone please remove it from the international list? == Is Dean Peters the wrestler the same as Dean Peters the DQ PR guy? ==

It says...

The story of the founding of DQ as I grew up hearing it involved sites in Moline Illinois and in nearly Green River/Colona, and an investor named Morey Nelson.
In August, 2009, "One Million Moms", a project of the conservative Christian American Family Association announced on its website that Dairy Queen Director of Communications and Public Relations Dean Peters had contacted the project and said that Dairy Queen had removed its advertisement from the popular TV show The Secret Life of the American Teenager and would not advertise on the show again in the future.[37] One Million Moms also stated that Dairy Queen had added Secret Life to its "Do Not Air List" and its "Restricted List".[37] One of the concerns of One Million Moms was that "New character on the show is a gay, male high school freshman".[38]
Nelson was a friend/mentor of my uncle. I often was with my cousin playing in their yard when Nelson pulled up in his old Buick; invariably, he brought a sack of Dilly Bars for us kids.
The story I learned later was that Nelson, who was a stock broker, had been approached by the inventor of the soft serve machine, and ultimately helped finance DQ. A store in Moline was the first store of their joint venture, and they set up a warehouse of sorts in Green River.
The Wikipedia article on sort serve mentions some of this. Mobiledan (talk) 17:58, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

... I clicked on the link for "Dean Peters" to figure out if he's a closetcase like all the other homophobes, but it took me to the page for some wrestler. This is a wild guess, but I don't think that they're the same Dean Peters.

Throughout my life I've bounced back and forth between Colorado and Texas. Why is the Country Basket (Steakfinger Basket) not available in Colorado? All they have is the Chicken Strip basket. Are the steakfingers only available in Texas (or other southern states)? Crackawoods (talk) 17:39, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Is it really necessary for the fourth sentence in this article to be a list of competitors? I can't see how that contributes to this article, or why it needs to be at the top of the article.

Dairy Queen in Moline and Green River

[edit]

The story of the founding of DQ as I grew up hearing it involved sites in Moline Illinois and in nearly Green River/Colona, and an investor named Morey Nelson. Country Basket

[edit]

Throughout my life I've bounced back and forth between Colorado and Texas. Why is the Country Basket (Steakfinger Basket) not available in Colorado? All they have is the Chicken Strip basket. Are the steakfingers only available in Texas (or other southern states)? Crackawoods (talk) 17:39, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well apparently they were never available in Colorado but they were available in other states, however now they're only available in Texas and nowhere else.
