Head and body length 7–9&nbsp;cm. Forearms 5&nbsp;cm. Wingspan is 28–31&nbsp;cm. Weight 11–14&nbsp;g.

Color is highly variable. The pelage is soft and silky. Generally it is reddish brown with the underside lighter. The nose-leaf, is prominent, complex. Large ears lack a [[Tragus (ear)|tragus]].
