She was raised in Ewa Beach and Kalihi, and attended the all-girl Catholic St. Francis School in Manoa. At age 16, Cheesa moved with her family to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of making it big in the music business.<ref name="midweek" /> Cheesa graduated Hollywood High School in 2008, and auditioned for The Voice in 2011.<ref name="midweek" />
