Recent scholarship — [https://www.bookshop.org/a/312/97811891030802 Our Story of Eagle Woman: Sacagawea: They Got It Wrong] by the Sacagawea Project Board of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation — proposes a death date of 1869. I'm very far from an expert and would not presume to edit the article, but could someone with more expertise assess whether this claim deserves to be mentioned? I note that the book has just been reviewed in the New York Review of Books, and the reviewer finds the claim plausible. This includes skepticism about the traditional evidence for the much earlier date of 1812. Clark's list from 1825–1826, e.g., is known to be wrong concerning other members of the expedition, including Charbonneau.
