Burripalem has a history of 400 years. It is named after the first settler Burriamma young pregnant women a war widow, It is said that she came from present Chittor district area, which was then ruled by [[Krishnadevaraya]]. Over the years it is well known for its rich legacy of its contribution to [[movements]], [[films]] and [[education]], It has produced many great leaders who participated in movements such as [[Sarvodaya]], [[Bhoodan campaign]], [[Library movement]]. It is also a land of scholars, actors and academicians. Famous actor of Telugu Film Industry [[Tollywood]] Super Star [[Krishna]] is from this village. A movie was also made in the name of this village Burripalem Bullodu.

The village has road connectivity to Tenali by the Tenali–Burripalem road.
Burripalem is located 34&nbsp;km from the sea coast. It is generally hot and humid during summer with temperatures ranging between 32-45 <sup>o</sup>C. Winters are milder with fog and temperatures between 15 and 23 <sup>o</sup>C. Heavy rains are experienced between July and November during monsoon time.


This village was adopted by actor [[Mahesh Babu]] after his film Srimanthudu portrayed the concept of adoption of villages.

The major occupation of the people in this village is mainly agriculture and small scale business. The region around the village has fertile soil irrigated by the Krishna river water and it has three canals irrigating these fields Paledrikaluva, Pathakaluva and Kothakavluva. Guru Poornima is celebrated by Gurubandhus with a mass feeding. In Maghamasam Sapatam is performed, chanting of Hare Ram: Hare Krishna continuously without any break day and night for 7 days and followed by mass feeding. It is a practice that is followed since 70 years.

Burripalem is an area of Tenali in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Tenali, Tenali mandal of Tenali revenue division.[2] It forms a part of Andhra Pradesh Capital Region.[5]

Burripalem gram panchayat is the local self-government of the village.[1] There are 12 wards, each represented by an elected ward member.[8] The sarpanch is elected indirectly by the ward members; the seat is presently held by Pemmasani Purushotama Rao.[when?][9] The village is administered by the Tenali Mandal Parisha at the intermediate level of panchayat raj institutions.[6]
