Mummidivaram is one of the Nagar Panchayat in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, "The temple town of Balayogi". The famous Gagjendra Moksha described in Sri Maha Bhagavatham took place here. This region is rich in alluvial soil and famous for paddy, coconut, turmeric, banana and sugarcane fields. This area is also enriched with mineral oil and natural gas (Refineries of Reliance and Gujarat State Petroleum are located in this area). Mummidivaram is an important business and education hub after Amalapuram in Konaseema area, Three Engineering colleges are located here. Mummidivaram is the second largest urban populated (Approximately 30,000) area in Konaseema. It is place of beautiful green fields and various streams of river Godavari pass through. The area resembles Alleppy in Kerala. Some of the area is covered with back waters and Madh forests across the Bay of Bengal.

Mummidiavaram is located on NH 214 and is about 44&nbsp;km from District HQ, Kakinada and 70&nbsp;km from Rajahmundry. The nearest airport is at Rajahmundry (70&nbsp;km) and nearest railway station is at Kakinada (44&nbsp;km). This small town is well connected to other towns in the area by state transportation buses, with buses being available every 15 minutes between Kakinada and Amalapuram. It is well connected with state HQ, Hyderabad with daily private luxury buses available at the rate of 6-10 services per day. It is popular as the best residential area for Government and private employees as there were several Private companies(Reliance & Gujarat state petroleum) around Mummidivaram. Also superior educational facilities are available in this town (There were 3 Engineering colleges within 6&nbsp;km radius and 1 medical college within 10&nbsp;km of this town). The area also fitted with sound infrastructure facilities that provide transportation and water for the public.

The Balayogi Temple is a famous holy destination spot in East Godavari district.<ref>[http://www.ap.gov.in/aptourism/locations/rajahmundry/rajah_bottom8.html A.P.Tourism on The Balayogi Temple]</ref> Balayogi, an ascetic, appears in public once a year on next day after [[Maha Shivaratri]]. He attracts a large number of people who congregate here to have his Darshan. Until 1984 about five lakhs devotees from all over the world have visited this temple for the Balayogi’s Darshan.

Lord Shiva temple is one of the oldest and most ancient temple in the area. As per the legend, the temple was built by Surya Bhagwan.

Ainavilli Ganesh temple (10&nbsp;km from Mummidivaram) is also one of the famous temples in the East Godavari district.

The area is also a home to other major religions like Christianity and Islam. People of different faiths live peacefully here. The best example is the famous Valibaba shrine (Islamic holy place) in Kothalanka, a nearby village in Mummidivaram where most of the devotees are Hindus. This village has a R.T.C. bus stand, a Mandal Revenue Office, a Mandal Development Office, a High School, a Government Junior College, three Private Degree Colleges, two I.T.I. colleges, and, a Junior Civil and Judicial 1st class Magistrate court.

Mummidivaram is a town in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Mummidivaram revenue block was formed out of the Amalapuram tehsil in July 1969. It is the second largest town in Konaseema district.
