The '''Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium''' is located in [[Kalgoorlie|Kalgoorlie, Western Australia]]. The stadium is owned and administered by the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association. From March through to August each year, it is the home of the [[Goldfields Giants]], a men's basketball team that competes in the [[State Basketball League]] (SBL). The stadium's maximum capacity is 1,200 for SBL games. The stadium was built in 1979 with two indoor courts. It was the last basketball-only facility to be built in Western Australia. In 1996, a third indoor court was added to the stadium.

The stadium is named after local [[Goldfields–Esperance|Goldfields]] basketball stalwart, Niels Hansen. The stadium has played host to numerous [[National Basketball League (Australia)|National Basketball League]] (NBL) pre-season games over the years, including two games of the NBL's official pre-season tournament in 1996 featuring the [[Perth Wildcats]], [[Adelaide 36ers]], [[Hobart Devils]] and a touring [[Athletes in Action]] team. The stadium's highlight was the staging of an official NBL regular season game in February 2003 between the Wildcats and the [[Hunter Pirates]], which was won by Perth. The stadium has also hosted two official [[Women's National Basketball League]] (WNBL) regular season games featuring the [[Perth Lynx]], the first being in 1990 when they were known as the Breakers, and the second being in February 2009.

Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium is a purpose-built basketball stadium located in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. It is the home of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association (KBBA) and the Goldfields Giants.

The stadium is named after local Goldfields basketball stalwart, Niels Hansen. He became the KBBA's fifth life member in 1980.[2]

The stadium was built in 1979 and was renovated in the late 1990s.[3] In 2018, plans were put in place for an expansion of the stadium.[4] In 2022, a $13 million stadium redevelopment was set in motion for two new courts to be added to the existing three at the facility.[5][6] In July 2024, the Goldfields Giants played their final home game on the traditional main court before switching to a brand-new show court in 2025.[2]

On 23 February 2004, the stadium played host to the Perth Wildcats in an official National Basketball League regular season game against the Hunter Pirates.[7][8][9]

The stadium also hosted an official Women's National Basketball League regular season game featuring the Perth Lynx in 2009.[10]
