The mission of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is to maintain a
programme of excellence in teaching, research, services and imparting knowledge in Computer
Science and Engineering through comprehensive educational programmes. The Department
has been offering B.Tech. in CSE since 2009 and M.Tech. in CSE since 2013. The Department
has well equipped laboratories with high-end computers and relevant software. Department is
also actively involved in organizing workshops seminars and training programmes for the
benefit of students and faculty members as well. Industrial visits and summer internships are
regular features of the programme delivery. In-house research projects are also encouraged
apart from on-demand projects for consultancy jobs. Students find placement opportunities in
reputed MNCs and local IT companies. The department offers M.Tech. Programme with
specialisation in Software Engineering.
Keeping in mind the fast paced world's need of IT graduates, the department offers BCA, B.Sc.
(IT) & MCA programmes. The primary emphasis of these programmes is to develop diverse
Application Software rather than designing computer hardware and system software. Each
program is designed to bridge the chasm between computing theory and applications. The
department has adequate computing laboratories and licensed software. Being exposed to
quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, which are built into the curriculum, the students are
thus trained to be innovative and creative. The faculty members are all PG degree holders and
some of them are also pursuing Ph.D.

Started in 2009, the mission of the Department is to impart high quality under-graduate
education and carry out research in various disciplines of Civil Engineering. It currently runs
academic programmes leading to the award of B.Tech. and M.Tech. The Department has all
laboratories fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support the research and teaching
activities. Important technical software related to Civil Engineering is available to enhance the
quality of learning. Currently, faculty members in the department possessing Masters and Ph.D
degree from IITs and reputed institutions.
The B.Tech. programme offered by the Department of Civil Engineering encompasses many
areas, such as Solid mechanics, Concrete Technology, Geo-Technical Engineering, Structural
Analysis, Transportation Engineering, Design of Steel structures, Irrigation engineering and
Estimation & Costing.
The department has been offering M.Tech. Course in Construction Technology, Highway
Engineering & Structural Engineering since 2013. The course delivery is through digital
lectures, classes, field visits, project works and dissertation component.

The mission of the department is to produce quality and professional engineers for the industry
and society. It has well qualified faculty members who have specialisations in fields of Thermal
Engineering, Design, Production and Materials Engineering. Apart from teaching the faculty
members are also actively involved in research and development activities. The B.Tech.
Programme offered by the Department encompasses many courses such as Solid Mechanics,
Production Technology, Thermal Engineering, Structural Analysis, and Industrial Engineering.
This background is strengthened and integrated through application in a sequence of broad
engineering design supported by well-equipped laboratories and workshops. The department
regularly conducts seminars and workshops for the benefit of the students. Students of this
department have bagged 1st and 2nd prizes at IIT Mandi in Robotics Competition. The
department recently organised a two-day workshop on AutoCAD, which was well received.
Department has strong industrial links for providing summer internships at reputed
organisations like SML, Swaraj Tractors, Sonalika etc. The department also offers M.Tech.
Programme specialising in Production Engineering, since 2013.

Presently Department of Mathematics is moving under the able leadership of Mrs. Shivani
Thakur. The department offers both B.Sc (Hons.) and M.Sc. programmes apart from acting as a
service department to engineering programmes. Both of its B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. programmes
are applied in nature with emphasis on application rather than theoretical mathematics. It has
qualified and experienced faculty members who apart from teaching are also engaged in project

Department of Physics is a part of the Indus School of Sciences & Technology. It came into
existence as an independent Department in August, 2011 with the commencement of M.Sc.
Physics Programme. Previously it was one component of Applied Sciences. The Physics
Department has well qualified and experienced faculty members. The department is involved in
development of infrastructure of high quality to fulfil the needs of various science and
engineering main streams. The Department offers full time programmes M.Sc., M.Phil. and
Ph.D. in Physics. The department regularly conducts seminars & guest lectures for the benefit of
the students. “PRASTUTI” A Physics seminar series is a regular event of Department, since
2013. Our two M.Sc. Physics students have been offered DST -INSPIRE fellowship for doctoral
studies.
Department has well equipped laboratory facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate
students. The Department has one Applied Physics laboratory for undergraduate classes,
Electronics Labs (analog & digital), Optics Lab, Condensed Matter Physics Lab. for post
graduate classes and a dark room for experiments related to light. Department is also involved in
the development of a Research lab for R & D activities. Our Faculty members are actively
engaged in research. The research areas are Organic semiconductors, organic electronics,
nanomaterials, and related fields.

Banerjee under the School of Sciences and Technology. Earlier a service department, now this
new department has come into independent existence from 2014, offering UG, PG & Research
programmes namely: B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc., M.Phil & Ph.D. The course curricula of each
programme have been designed with emphasis on industry relevance. Our department is fully
conscious about the fact that chemistry plays an important role in the development of science,
engineering and technology. The basic chemistry laboratories are being upgraded to PG level
research laboratories. In our department students from undergraduate as well as postgraduate
streams are deeply engaged in learning and we connect them to opportunities in employment
and education. The department helps students to develop their technical knowledge, skill and
ability; motivating them to think creatively, helping them to act independently.

Department of Business Management started with the inception of IIU. It has made a mark in the
region for its stimulating academic, co-curricular, industry linkage environment & unique
course delivery. With a basket of undergraduate courses (BBA & B.Com), post graduate courses
(MBA & M.Com) and Ph.D program in management, this department awakens the best in the
students, refines it and guides them for bench marking to attain future success.
Uniqueness of the department lie in its industry linked MBA with paid stipend. The programme is
mentored in association with leading industries & SME's etc. which should be read in
consonance with the syllabus from 2014 onwards. The stipend would be paid per year (for two
semesters each) in the two-year programme.

training that opens up wide range of career options from various segments in hotel, hospitality,
travel & tourism, aviation hospitality management, event management etc. All 2015 batch
graduates have been placed with Fortune Classik, a sister concern of ITC Group of hotels.
