Barratt's influences are [[Michael Jackson]], [[Whitney Houston]] and [[Eva Cassidy]]. Barratt is possessed of an extraordinary voice and vocal range. In fact you could say he has two voices. While rivaling [[Will Young]]'s tenor tones, He can also sing [[Whitney Houston]]'s "I Will Always Love You" in her pitch perfectly demonstrates his wide range.

Barratt Waugh: “I've been singing for...well since before I could tie my own shoe laces!!!!! I love it! I grew up in the mining village of Rainworth, Mansfield with three brothers and a sister. We all get on really well now, although as kids we were pulling each others hair out. Kinda fun when I look back! For years I would sing songs I heard on the radio, songs I heard on my parents stereo etc., but it wasn't till only a few years ago that started to write my own songs and haven't really looked back. I mean, sure I do still sing covers for fun, but my heart is in the delivery of my own message. A bit cheesy you might think, but we all got something to say about life, and a message to share don't we? Mine is in my music.”

Barratt Waugh (born August 1979, Swindon, Wiltshire) is a British countertenor singer.

Career

[edit]

Waugh first came to the UK's attention when featured on Michael Barrymore's My Kind of People and My Kind of Music, and went on to perform at the Royal Albert Hall supporting Cliff Richard.

Having been signed to the Warner Bros. Records classics subsidiary Erato, Waugh's album, a collaboration with Diane Warren, I Love You, Goodbye[1] was released in Japan, France and the US in 2000. 50,000 copies were sold, with Barratt making promotional appearances in these countries. In the US, Atlantic Records picked up on the track "A Time for Us" and released a club version.

In 2002, Waugh first underwent brain surgery to remove an abscess and started writing his own material. There were to be several repeat operations to cure the problem. During this period Barratt was managed by John Proctor at Total Artist Management. Working with writer/producer Ryan Laubscher, he recorded 11 new tracks which remain unreleased.

Waugh released the single "Skip a Beat" in June 2003 under his own label, BNW Records. It reached No. 56 in the UK Singles Chart.[2] During this time Waugh went on a 100 date nationwide schools tour; appearing with Blue, D-Side, Liberty X, Lulu, Fast Food Rockers, Lisa Scott Lee, Blazin' Squad, Sugababes, Kym Marsh, Gareth Gates and others. He has since appeared at Live & Loud in Hampden Park, Summer Pops in Liverpool, the Blackburn Music Festival, Party in the Park and Heaven, as well as numerous nightclubs and radio roadshows across the country.
