What's the college mascot's name again? I saw him at my Freshman orientation, but I forgot his name. Also, the shirt I got says "Screamin' Eagles". What exactly is that? A specific sports team? The general name for sports at Brockport? I couldn't find it in the article.Kevin 01:37, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
** Appreciate that. Since the college will continue to be referred to as SUNY Brockport in the vast majority of secondary sources, it could take some time before the new formal name is widespread. As such, I thought it best to get consensus on the move. Powers <small><small>T</small></small> 20:00, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
:SUNY BRockport's name is the Golden Eagles. "Screamin' Eagles" are what the fans are called. atleast that's how it was when i went to the events. I gradutated May '07 from there so i think my reference point is pretty accurate 199.21.28.13 12:42, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

*Move to SUNY Brockport. I think in this instance it's fairly clear that sources will move to the new name, even at this early stage, and some have already, e.g. . However, that said, I'm not seeing the proposed long name "State University of New York Brockport" anywhere in sources, even in the "about us" page or the copyright notice at the bottom. It seems like the abbreviated form SUNY Brockport is both the official name and the WP:COMMONNAME. So that's where it should be moved to. *Move to SUNY Brockport per WP:COMMONNAME (name most widely used) and WP:NAMECHANGES (name most widely used in reliable sources after the name has changed). The name SUNY Brockport is the name now used by the college , and is the name that has been used since 1948: . The official name appears to have changed to THE COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT, STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (the current article title) in 2005, though is still referred to, even by itself, as SUNY Brockport. We always prefer the WP:COMMONNAME over the WP:OFFICIAL name. In the press release provided by LtPowers it says: " The university will continue to be referred to as SUNY Brockport, however, its official state education title will be known as “State University of New York Brockport.”". Everything points to SUNY Brockport as being the appropriate title. SilkTork (talk) 19:20, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

There was a murder on Brockport's campus on September 29th of an 18-year-old freshman by her boyfriend in a domestic violence act. it was the first murder on Brockport's campus in its 177-year history. Surely this is notable if terrible. 74.69.11.229 (talk) 00:44, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

Supported, this is the official name of the school and should be reflected in the title 137.21.138.67 (talk) 19:51, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 • Move to SUNY Brockport. I think in this instance it's fairly clear that sources will move to the new name, even at this early stage, and some have already, e.g. [1][2][3]. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 22:27, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 • Move to SUNY Brockport per WP:COMMONNAME (name most widely used) and WP:NAMECHANGES (name most widely used in reliable sources after the name has changed). The name SUNY Brockport is the name now used by the college [4], and is the name that has been used since 1948: [5]. SilkTork (talk) 19:20, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
